We all have a dream to step into our professional life from our student life – a definite reason behind this has to be making money, but only making money cannot be the single reason behind our profession. Personally, I think that people work to feel happy about their daily lives. Because of two reasons, I have developed such an opinion and I will be exploring these in my essay.

First of all, a job is not just a job – it is a matter of responsibility. After getting a job, it’s like our life receives one more purpose. It is directly related to our mental health. Sometimes we strive to meet the objectives of our job, but everything here we do to make ourselves established. It supplies a different kind of happiness about our future. A job also makes us feel that our lives are sorted but without a job, we are often directionless. I have kind of similar experience in my life – a few years back, I was laid off. It is not that I had a financial problem because of it; I was financially secure instead. Yet I was extremely depressed because I officially had no job. Initially, I devoted myself to pursuing my hobbies – it was fun too but only at the initial stages. After a few hours of spending time in my hobbies, again, I felt depressed just because I lacked something vital. I was actually missing my office and workload. Secondly, jobs open multiple opportunities for us – we get the chance to meet new people daily. Our connections get enriched with this. Unemployed people hardly get the chance to meet people with so much diversity – instead, these unemployed people interact mostly with their family and a few friends. It is definitely good but sometimes it may appear boring and unemployed people may feel frustrated just because they don’t have some more people to talk to. As a student, I worked in a local supermarket. Indeed, I did not get a very high salary but my experience of these years made this the best job of my life so far. There I came in contact with random people with random queries and opinions – I really enjoyed listening to all these. Even after having a job that offers a very high salary compared to the job in that supermarket, I sometimes miss the job because I like meeting new people a lot.

In conclusion, I do believe that the main reason behind working is to feel better and happier about their lives. Job gives us goals and it keeps us engaged. We develop a positive attitude with it and a job makes us happy by offering lots of opportunities and connections to us.
