Firstly, most of the people literally don’t care about air pollution from their vehicles even though all know that automobiles are now one of the biggest sources of greenhouse gases. These gases are the cause of global warming – one of the most talked-about subjects of recent times. But people hardly care. For example, in most of the families, every individual has a separate vehicle when one can fill the purpose of all and be more affordable and easy to maintain. As a result, more energy is getting consumed and more fuel is used. People neglect the fact of pollution – the expensive cars are the sign of their social status and I believe it is a consequence of their love of automobiles.

Secondly, the obsession with automobiles is a threat to public transportation. The public railways are ceased to expand as people use own car to travel. Almost all the cities including my city are facing this. It is very frustrating for any citizen but most people hardly care as they can go anywhere in their car. It is like no one wants better public transportation and the government is not willing to take any action to improve it. I believe this is a result of people’s dependency on automobiles.

In conclusion, I do agree that people in today’s world are much dependent on automobiles and they hardly care about global warming, and broken public transportation.
