At present homeschooling is a popular alternative to the traditional learning ways and for the homeschooling system parents are believed to be better educators. I personally do not think in the same way for two reasons. I will define my points in the following paragraphs.

Firstly, parents are mostly biased toward their own children. Specifically, most parents believe that their children are the best and smartest ones and they cannot come second. Because of this, they may teach their child inappropriately and mistakenly. These parents assume that children can cope up – but that is not the case. One of my old friends is an example of it. Her mother taught her at home, rather than sending her to a local school. Though her mother failed badly, she had good intentions and she is very good at teaching math. But for language, her assumptions went wrong and my friend got really bad language skills from the very beginning. Even though we start learning from our parents at the initial stages of life, this example shows that our parents may not be the best teachers always.

Secondly, the teaching methods went through a lot of modifications that our parents may not be aware of. Therefore, their efforts to educate their children will be a failure. Plus, our parents have completed their study 10-15 years back and while teaching their children, they are prone to apply those old methods. Professional teachers, on the other side, concentrate on their professional development and for a better career, they keep learning new methods of teaching. The trained teachers can connect more to their students, while parents struggle here. For example, the tutors in the schools understand the necessity of smart learning and they skillfully use the computer for the learning process. Our parents will struggle here. From this perspective, I believe that parents are not the best teachers – professional educators can teach us in the best way.

To conclude, I oppose that parents are the best teachers mainly because they do not always have professional training as educators and sometimes parents consider their children as the best which results in the wrong process of learning.
