Topic: Should Businesses Hire Employees For Their Entire Lives?

Model Answer 1:

Many people in today’s time question the matter of job security and its impact. Recently many companies are coming to address the fact that job security makes an employee less motivated to work and slog. It makes them lose their determination as they start taking their work for granted. Less employee motivation leads to less profit. Job security is undoubtedly a helpful factor but it is simultaneously becoming an obstacle for companies. After some prolonged thought, I would like to state the fact that offering jobs for the whole life will not act as an advancement for the companies and as well as for society.

The main factor concerning job security is the instant reduction of employee productivity that will eventually lead to the fall in the generation of profit and revenue. This will make the employees feel that they will not lose their jobs no matter what and keep getting paid forever. This is the reason we often find certain government employees procrastinating on doing a job. Even if we do, they take weeks and months to finish a work that probably takes around two to three days. In fact, the majority of the time when visiting a government office, we will come across employees filing their nails, chatting on office telephones, having a gala lunch for one to two hours, surfing the internet for fun, and more. This happens because they have taken their works for granted and do not grind to keep it.

The other reason that states job security is not a good option is, employees are unable to shift to a job they like. There are many people who feel stuck while working in a government job and wish to change but cannot do that. Job security gives people a feeling of guarantee for a long time. This also takes away the zeal they have to do something different or maybe better. Not only do they get to work in a place and industry they like, but they also get a proper hike in their salary.

In general, providing employees job security till their retirement takes away their wishes to work someplace else. It also reduces the enthusiasm they have towards their work.

Model Answer 2:

Is it okay for businesses to hire employees for their entire lives? The answer would be no. A business’s responsibility is taking care of the rights and interests of its employees and accordingly, it will keep them as long as they want. But it is not plausible for a business to hire the employees for their entire lives.

Firstly, a business runs on ideas and hard work. It is not possible for a business to run if it does not have access to fresh ideas, and talents. This requires the business to remove the positions that are no more necessary. No matter how cruel it sounds, the elimination of people is required for a business to flourish. If the business is unable to continue, along with it, all the employees will lose their jobs as well. We often think biggies like Walmart, IBM doesn’t eliminate people and employees get to keep their jobs forever. But in recent years we are getting to hear about how these big corporations are also laying off hundreds and thousands of people every year due to economic depression.

Secondly, the very thought of job security brings a feeling of satisfaction in the minds of the employees. They lose the zeal, and stick to the job without making plans for their futures. This act is detrimental for both the company and the employee. If this employee gets the chance to try other companies they will probably receive a huge hike and benefits.

In conclusion, it can be said that it is not favorable for businesses to hire employees for their whole lives. This will sabotage the business as well as the employee’s enthusiasm to pursue any other work.
