In a transportation system, roads, highways, and public transportation facilities are common amenities. Now, when a government is questioned about its transportation system and asked to prioritize public transportation like buses, autos, or taxis, or develop more highways and roads? There are undoubtedly many advantages to investing in highways and roads. It will lead to numerous passages, directions, and paths. But it cannot surpass the fact that investing in public transportation will result in the assistance of the citizens.

Investment in highways and roads has many benefits. When we talk about the development of roads and highways, we also refer to the advancement in new roads, transportation of goods, reduction in the cost induced by the issues of dilapidated roads. This will ultimately result in a state-of-the-art country and cities in terms of transportation. When the government will initiate investing in highways and roads, it will instantly show signs of improvement. These renovations will boost the economy by helping the people continue their communication more effectively, the government will witness higher income, and people’s appraisals for their hard work. Additionally, the city will witness fewer damages to vehicles, lowered number of accidents, a smooth continuation of the vehicles, and so much more. This will eventually result in a lowered number of bruises and accidents to drivers, protecting the commuters as well.

Though we should also throw light on investing in public transportation. A very high percentage of citizens travel by public transportation. As compared to them, a very little percentage of people own cars. Even people with personal vehicles sometimes commute through public transport. Investing in public transportation will lead to the eradication of traffic congestion in cities. In fact, if we consider the distant future, there will be a reduction in traffic noises leading to minimize noise pollution, as well as less air pollution. This will ultimately lead to mentally and physically healthy people. Investing in public transportation will also lead to a reduction in the purchase of private vehicles, fuel, service, and insurance costs. In many cases, public transportation may lead to connections between people.

In conclusion, it can be said that investing in public transportation is a greater priority than investing in highways and roads. It will greatly benefit the citizens of the country and their communication.

Model Answer 2:

There has always been confusion in the government as to whether to invest in highways and roads or public transportation. This is a very common issue encountered by almost every person in their daily lives. According to me, I am inclined towards the government investing in public transportation more than highways and roads.

It is very anticipated that the general public will choose roads and highways over public transportation. The reason being, a proper road, and the highway will suspend more vehicles and accelerate the speed of. But, on deep scrutiny, we will get to notice how flimsy the whole idea is. If the government spends more on the roads and highways, it will result in a more developed communication path and thus more vehicles. Have you ever been stuck in a traffic jam? Well, in our country most of the citizens have complained of getting stuck in a traffic jam for hours. With developed roads, people will tend to purchase more vehicles thereby increasing the jam.

Development of the roads and highways is definitely a big plus to the whole country. But thinking of the rise in private vehicles, and along with it the noise pollution, air pollution, and so more - it will directly have a detrimental effect on the citizens. With investment in public transportation, there is a more likely chance to have a clear sky and fresh air to breathe. There will be more people opting for public transport like buses and autos than cars. In fact, in recent years we have already noticed a change in the parking area and development in the bus networks. Finally, in a country that has flourished, roadways and highways are things citizens want. The countrymen will now have more access to faraway places without any hindrance. Ultimately, a well-managed country’s transportation will lead to further development.

There is another reason behind supporting the investment in public transport more than highways. When the same people get to travel by public transport on a daily basis, they tend to develop a bond among them - this doesn’t happen in private cars. Communication helps people in many spheres of life, and public transports help that. In fact, public transport costs are tremendously low as compared to purchasing a car.
