MAT 2020 is conducted by AIMA in both online and offline mode, 4-times a year i.e. in the month of February, May, September, and December. MAT is a national examination conducted for the candidates seeking admission in management programs. Based on the MAT Score, candidates will be offered admission to topmost management institutes across the country like Christ University, NDIM, DSIMS, IPE, IESMCRC, FIIB etc.

  • MAT 2020 notification is expected to release in the first week of December 2019.
  • With the release of official notification, AIMA will also start MAT registration for the February session exam.
  • MAT Registration for February session exam will tentatively start on December 11, 2019. Last date for the same is expected to be January 25, 2020.
  • It is to be noted that there are separate registrations for the PBT and CBT mode examination. Candidates willing to take both the exam can apply for the same through single application form by paying an extra fee.
  • Candidates taking the exam in both the modes have the advantage to send their score in two additional b-schools apart from the existing 5 institutes.
  • There are more than 200 B-Schools Accepting MAT Score. Last year, 250 colleges across India participated in MAT exam.
  • There are separate MAT exam centers for the PBT mode and CBT mode exam. Last year, PBT exam was conducted at 45 exam centers while CBT exam was conducted across 29 exam centers. It is to be noted that some of the exam centers were common for both the exam mode. This year, with the increase in MAT aspirants, an increase in the number of MAT exam centers is also expected.

MAT 2020 Exam Pattern

There are no major changes in MAT exam pattern over the past year. As per the pattern laid by the exam conducting body, MAT contains a compilation of 200 MCQs from five different sections.

  • The five sections of MAT 2020 exam are - Language Comprehension, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills, and Indian and Global Environment.
  • Each section contains an equal number of question i.e. 40.
  • The total exam duration is given to solve 200 questions in 160 minutes.
  • Candidates will be given 1 mark for each correct answer.
  • There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.
  • Unlike CAT exam, MAT aspirants can solve any section in the given time frame in their order of preference. There is no sectional time limit to solve MAT exam.

The exam conducting body i.e. AIMA does not release the syllabus of MAT examination. As per the questions asked over the year, we have curated some important topics of each section that the candidates must study thoroughly for getting better results.

MAT 2020 Eligibility

Candidates willing to take MAT 2020 exam must go through the complete eligibility criteria laid down by the exam conducting authority before applying for the exam. Given below are the important criteria that a candidate needs to satisfy in order to appear in the exam.

  • Educational Qualification
  1. Candidates who have completed a bachelor’s degree program or they have an equivalent professional degree like CA/CS/ICWA.
  2. Candidates in the final year of graduation are also eligible for MAT 2020.
  • Age Limit - There is no age limit to apply for MAT examination.
  • Work Experience - There is no work experience mandatory to take MAT.

MAT 2020 Registration

As per the forthcoming MAT schedule laid down by AIMA, MAT registration for February session exam is expected to start from December 11, 2019. Candidates willing to take MAT 2020 will be able to apply for the exam till January 25, 2020. The registration process is completely online. Application process completes in four major steps discussed below:

  1. Registering for the exam
  2. Login to Account
  3. Application fee payment
  4. Uploading photograph and signature
  5. Fill application form

Documents Required for MAT Registration

Candidates must keep following documents and details ready before applying for MAT examination:

  1. Valid e-mail id and mobile number
  2. Scanned image of the photograph
  3. Scanned image of the signature
  4. Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking/ Paytm Wallet Details
  5. Personal details
  6. Qualification details

Steps to Fill MAT Application Form

Step 1 - Registration

  • New candidates have to visit the official website mat.aima.in. Click on “Register”.
  • Enter your valid email-id and mobile number. Click on “Submit”.
  • Candidate will receive an OTP on e-mail and mobile number.
  • Enter the received OTP and click on “verify and submit”.
  • Create your login. Verification will be sent to the candidate’s mail, once the login is created successfully.

Step 2 - Login to Account

  • Login using your login credentials on the official website of MAT.
  • Enter registered email-id, password and DOB.
  • Click on “Submit”.

Step 3 - Make Payment

  • Candidates have to select the exam mode, test center and payment mode.
  • Click on “Save and Next”.
  • It is to be noted that the payment can only be done via Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking / Wallet or UPI.

Step 4 - Upload Photograph and Signature

After the application fee payment, candidates have to upload the scanned image of photograph and signature. Guidelines for the same is mentioned below:

Step 5 - Fill MAT Application Form

  • Candidates must fill all the personal and qualification details.
  • After filling the details, click on “Save”.
  • In case a candidate wants to edit any information, they can do the same by logging into the official website.
  • Candidates can edit the information except for the name, DOB, email-id and mobile number.
  • After editing the form click on “Save”.

Step 6 - Download Registration Form

  • Candidates can view the application form after application fee payment.
  • They must download the application form for future reference.

MAT 2020 Admit Card

MAT 2020 Admit Card will be available in online mode for the successfully registered candidates only. No admit card will be sent via mail or post. Admit Card is an essential document to be carried to the exam center along with valid id proof. MAT 2020 Admit Card for February session is expected to release in the last week of January 2020. Candidates may download the hall tickets by following the steps given below:

  • Visit the official website mat.aima.in.
  • Click on “MAT Admit Card”.
  • Login using the required credentials.
  • The candidate’s hall ticket will be displayed on the screen.
  • Download and save for future correspondence

Candidates must check the details mentioned on the admit card carefully. In case of any discrepancy, contact the exam authority immediately.


MAT 2020 Result

MAT 2020 Result for February session will release tentatively on February 29, 2020 in online mode. Candidates will be able to check their result on the official website of MAT by entering their user id and password. The result will be released in the form of a scorecard. How to Check MAT Result? Candidates can follow the steps given below to check the MAT result.

  1. Visit the official website of MAT i.e. mat.aima.in.
  2. Find a link stating “MAT Result” and click on it.
  3. Enter the login credentials and enter on “Submit”.
  4. Result will be displayed on the screen.
  5. Take a print of MAT 2020 result.
