Amar Singh College's building which was built over 80 years ago was awarded the 2020 UNESCO Asia Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation.
Amar Singh College, Srinagar building is one of the seven conservation projects which is recognized with the 2020 UNESCO award.
A jury, composed of 9 international conservation experts was assembled to deliberate the project entries from November 20 to 22, 2020. The jury announced the award on December 16, 2020.

The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) Jammu and Kashmir chapter stated that because of the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic, the deliberation was held virtually in online mode.
INTACH stated that Amar Singh College, Srinagar was recognized with the 'Award of Merit' in the 2020 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.

INTACH, Jammu and Kashmir chapter said that the jury awarded the following awards in 2020:
- 2 Special Recognition for Sustainable Development awards
- 1 Award of Excellence
- 1 Award of Distinction
- 1 Award for New Design in Heritage Contexts
- 3 Awards of Merit
The conservation work was carried out at Amar Singh College, Srinagar by the INTACH Jammu and Kashmir chapter.

The Amar Singh College's restoration brought back the previous glory of one of the prominent institutional buildings in Kashmir. The conservation project was undertaken with a high level of technical proficiency.
The jury mentioned in its statement that the conservation project held at Amar Singh College has reversed the major deterioration caused because of the inappropriate additions, poor maintenance, and catastrophic events like the flooding in 2014.
The jury also stated, "The project team’s meticulous attention to original building design and materials involved training a new generation of building artisans in brick and stone masonry."
