All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bathinda and Central University of Punjab Bathinda (CUPB) has signed an MoU to promote cooperation in education, innovation, and research in the field of biomedical and related sciences.
Director of AIIMS, Prof. Dinesh Kumar Singh, and Vice-Chancellor of CUPB Prof. Raghavendra P Tiwari signed the MoU on November 4, 2020.

Prof. Dinesh Kumar Singh informed that both the institutions will work together to promote the academic and research activities in both basic and clinical science.
Special focus will be provided to common monogenic multifactorial/ adult-onset disorders prevalent in the Malwa region of Punjab.
The objective of the MoU is to understand the cause of the disease to develop targeted and tailored therapy for untreated cases from the past and to provide a durable cure to society.
Both the AIIMS and CUPB carry huge potential to contribute to the country. A way will be provided forward to become the Centre of Excellence for both Institutes because of this collaboration.

Prof. Raghavendra P Tiwari stated that promoting the knowledge of medical sciences in India is the main aim of this MoU.
Secure cooperation will be regulated between both institutes, and they will work together to advance the progress of medical/basic sciences.
The pact is focused to promote interaction among faculty members, scientists, scholars, and students of both these institutes so that they could help each other and share the latest knowledge in their research areas.
He stressed that this MoU will help in the promotion of collaboration in various areas given below:
- Conducting joint research
- Developing proposals for joint research projects
- Working as supervisor/ co-supervisor for Ph.D. scholars
- Providing each other access to research facilities present in their institutes
Registrar of AIIMS, Dr. Navita Aggarwal, Dean Student Welfare, Prof. Vinod K Garg, Dean Academics, Prof. RK Wusirika, Dean Research, Prof. Anjana Munshi, and Registrar of CUPB, Kanwal Pal Singh Mundra appreciated the MoU.
