SAT Score chart helps candidates to understand the scoring process in SAT. SAT comprises 3 compulsory sections: Reading, Writing, and Language and Math. Each section is first scored with a raw score. Here is the SAT test scoring chart given below that comprises the SAT Score Chart with sections and maximum raw points. These points are calculated based on the total number of questions in each section. The raw score is later converted into a scaled score.

Sections Maximum Raw Points
Reading 52
Writing and Language 44
Math 58

This is the new SAT raw score conversion chart made as per the updation made by Collegeboard in SAT scores. In old SAT score, reading and writing were separate sections. But according to new sat score chart, these two sections are combined together to obtain the score evidence-based reading and writing.

The obtained raw score of Reading section and Writing and Language section is converted into 2 different scaled scores, each on a range of 10-40. In the next section, the scaled score of these 2 sections are added together and multiplied by 10 to obtain the combined scaled score of Reading and Writing section. Check the sat scaled score chart for reading and SAT writing score chart:

Understanding SAT Raw Score & Scaled Score

To understand the SAT raw score candidates needs to understand the two concepts about SAT scoring:

  1. A raw score is calculated with the number of right answers the candidate did out of total questions.
  2. Scaled Score is where the raw score is converted into a scaled score. This helps make the comprehensive grading score out of 1600. The Score Chart is officially released by the College Board on the website. This helps candidates understand the conversion of raw scores into scaled scores(it may vary as per test dates).

SAT Raw Score

The SAT raw score is a factor that determines correct answers out of total answers attempted which is later multiplied by 10 to get the scaled score. The calculating format is different for every student.

SAT Raw Score based on different sections

The SAT exam includes different sections- Reading, Writing & Language, and SAT Mathematics. All the sections consists of different number of questions which has separate SAT raw score chart calculations:

  • Reading Section: It consists of 52 questions which marks the total raw score as 52.
  • Writing and Language: It consists of 44 questions which marks the total raw score as 44.
  • Math: It has 58 questions which mark the total raw score as 58.

SAT Scaled Score

Once done with calculating the SAT raw score, the next step is to refer to the SAT Scaled Score sheet. This sheet is available on the official website, it helps to get the Scaled Score for a particular section. The EBRW and Maths do carry a maximum scale score of 800. The case to convert raw score to scaled score varies depending on the different sections.

SAT Score Range Chart

The SAT Score Conversion chart may vary in terms of SAT exam dates as the questions and difficulty level in the exam. Candidates need to calculate their raw scores by referring to the official SAT score calculator chart guide on the College Board website.

The College Board provides a breakdown for the incorrect, correct, and omitted answers attempted by the candidate. The SAT score report contains final scaled scores.

SAT Score Percentile

In addition to their aggregate SAT score, which ranges from 400 to 1600, applicants will also receive a percentile rating, which ranges from 1 to 99. The Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) and SAT Math sections of assign applicants a percentile score based on their total composite score.

The SAT percentile chart compares candidates' scores to those of all other test-takers. For instance, someone who had a composite percentile of 76 would have outperformed 76% of students overall on the examination. An individual who scored 47 percentile on the math test outperformed 47% of other pupils. Given below is the SAT percentile chart for a better understanding of SAT scores:

SAT and ACT Conversion Chart

Both SAT and ACT tests are conducted to examine a candidate's academic reasoning skills that consist of reading, writing, mathematics, etc. Both the exam examines whether candidates have the capability to get selected into colleges abroad or not. As ACT and SAT scores are equivalently accepted for college admission, candidates can choose any test to appear. The SAT ACT score comparison chart will help determine the target score.

The SAT Score Range is 200-1600 while the ACT Score ranges from 1-36. Here is the clear comparison between ACT vs SAT for your help:
