    CEED 2023 Eligibility Criteria has been specified by IIT Bombay. These criteria will be verified, along with all the mandatory documents and CEED 2023 score, by CEED Participating Colleges, when the candidates go for their admissions. There is no upper age limit to appear forCEED 2023There are also no restrictions on the maximum number of attempts by candidates. A candidate, if found failing to satisfy even one of these criteria, will not be considered for admission and his application will be rejected.

    CEED or Common Entrance Exam for Design is a national level exam, conducted annually for admissions into the post graduate programs of design at premier institutes of the country. It will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB). CEED 2023 Score Card will be valid for a period of one year from the date of CEED Result declaration.

    CEED Eligibility

    CEED 2023 Eligibility

    • Candidates must have completed a degree / diploma / post graduate degree programme of minimum 3 years ( after 10 + 2 level) 

    OR

    • Must be appearing for the final examination of such a program by July 2023

    OR 

    • Must have passed the GD Arts diploma programme (10 +5 level) by July 2023. 

    Eligibility criteria for admission to various institutes may differ from the eligibility criteria for appearing for CEED. Before applying for CEED, candidates are advised to check whether they meet the required eligibility criteria for admission to various institutes. 

    Note: There is NO age limit to appear for CEED. Besides, a candidate can appear for CEED any number of times.

    CEED 2023 Eligibility Criteria for Participating Institutes

    Different CEED 2023 Participating institutes have different eligibility criteria for admissions in the desired courses. The candidates must satisfy eligibility Criteria of CEED 2023 for different institutes to seek admissions in their desired institutes. CEED Eligibility for the various participating institutes is summarised below:

    IISc Bangalore

    • A recognized Bachelor’s degree in engineering / design / architecture. 

    IIT Bombay

    Candidate should have a minimum of 55% (50% marks in case of SC / ST / PwD) or equivalent grades in the qualifying degree for individual streams: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Design / Engineering / Architecture / Interior Design: 10 +2 + 4 years (minimum 4 years Bachelor’s course). 
    • B. Plan is considered equivalent to B.Arch.
    • Four year B.Sc (Engg) course after HSC considered equivalent to BE / B.Tech. 
    • Professional Diploma in Design: 10 + 2 + 4 years (minimum 4 year diploma program). 
    • BFA (4 year professional program with entry after 10 +2) 
    • GD Art (4 year program after 1 year foundation. Minimum entry requirements are 10th pass).

    IIT Delhi

    • Programme offers 20 seats to students seeking admission in M.Des and belonging to B.Tech, B.Des and B.Arch backgrounds. 
    • Must have a valid CEED score; GATE score will not be considered. 

    IIT Guwahati

    • 4 year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Design / Engineering / Architecture / Interior Design or a Design related field with a minimum CPI of 6.0 out of 10 or minimum 60% marks. 
    • 4 year Professional Diploma in Design of NID or Professional Diploma of CEPT (5 year programme) with a minimum CPI of 6.0 out of 10 minimum 60% marks. 
    • Relaxation for SC / ST / PwD Candidates: The CPI or percentage marks in above mentioned eligibility requirements will be relaxed by 0.5 CPI or by 5% marks for SC / ST / PwD candidates. That is, the SC / ST / PwD candidates should have a minimum CPI of 5.5 out of 10 or minimum 55% of marks in their qualifying degree. 

    IIT Hyderabad

    For M.Des:

    • Must have a valid CEED score
    • A minimum of 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST) or equivalent grades in the qualifying examination given below –
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Architecture / Design/ Interior Design or equivalent (4 years duration after 10+2).
    • Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT or equivalent of 4 years duration after 10+2).
    • B.F.A. (4 year professional programme, after 10+2).
    • G.D. Art (5 year programme after 10th) with one year post qualification, professional experience.
    • Master’s degree in Arts / Science / Computer Applications (2 year programme after10+2+3).

    For PhD:

    • M.Des. / M.Arch. / M.Tech. / M.Phil. / MFA / M.A / M.Sc / Postgraduate Diploma in Design of NID, Ahmedabad OR equivalent
    • Also, either one of the following –
    • A minimum of 55 percent marks (50% marks for SC/ST) in the final academic year of the programme.
    • A minimum of 55 percent marks (50% marks for SC/ST) in aggregate or as specified by the university.
    • A first class as specified by the university
    • A minimum CPI of 5.5 (5.0 CPI for SC/ST) on the scale of 10; with corresponding proportional requirements when the scales are other than on 10
    • All candidates are required to upload one zip file containing the following:
    • (a) Ph.D proposal
    • (b) Portfolio of work and/or publications

    IIT Kanpur

    • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Design or Architecture
    • A valid CEED/GATE score are eligible to apply for the two-year Master of Design Programme.
    • Candidates holding degrees in Fine Arts or Interior Design are NOT eligible to apply.

    IITDM 

    Admissions to Master level program shall be on the basis of the performance in the qualifying examinations, those are CEED or GATE score of the candidate(s). In addition, the Selection Committeee may deem it fit to call some or all the candidates for the written test and / or interview.

     ​For M.Des (Regular and Sponsored): 

    B.Tech / B.E. / B.Arch / B.Des. / B.FA / M.Sc / MA / MCA with 

    • A minimum of 60% marks OR a CPI / CGPA of 6.0 (on the scale of 10.00) shall be required in the Qualifying Degree (B.Tech / B.Des. or equivalent). Relaxation for reserved category as per Govt. of India norms. 

    • For admission to masters program under regular category qualifying marks / certificate in GATE / CEED / (CSIR / UGC JRF / NET) or equivalent examination conducted at national level will be essential. The candidate should have valid GATE / CEED / UGC JRF

    For Ph.D. (Design) (Regular, Sponsored, and External):

    • Eligibility criteria for admission to Ph.D. programme is:

    • M.Des. with minimum marks / CPI in Qualifying Degree

    • A minimum of 65 percent marks or a CPI / CGPA of 6.5 (on the scale of 10) shall be required at the master’s level qualifying examination.

    • Relaxation for reserved category as per Govt. of India norms. 

    • Candidates who are on permanent role in NITs, IITs, Central Universities, Govt. Universities, Defence R&D organization, PSU for at least two years shall be eligible to apply for admission under the category of External Registration Programme. 

    Note: For these programmes at IISc Bangalore and IITDM Jabalpur and IIT Kanpur, GATE qualified candidates are also eligible. 


    CEED Seat Reservation

    There is a provision for reservation of certain number of seats for candidates belonging to various reserved categories. The category rank forCEED 2023 will be prepared based on the category provided by the candidate in CEED 2023 Application form.

    • A candidate who seeks admission under Scheduled Category (SC) Category or Scheduled Tribe (ST) Category will be required to submit the requisite certificate issued by a competent authority along with the CEED 2022 application form for admission. If the candidate fails to provide any applicable certificates, his candidature may be liable for rejection.
    • A candidate who seeks admission under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) Category will be required to submit an OBC certificate, along with the CEED application form for admission. In case of non-compliance of OBC non-creamy layer certificate with the prescribed format, the candidate will be considered in the General Category.

    No opportunity will be given to the candidate for late submission under any circumstances. Hence, candidates are advised to submit all necessary documents on time.

    • For Person with Disability (PwD) candidates who may have any category of disability (such as blindness or low vision, hearing impairment, locomotor disability or cerebral palsy), the candidate will be eligible for benefit only in case they have at least 40% permanent physical impairment in relation to a body part/system/extremity/ whole body.
    • Such candidates will be required to submit, along with the Application Form, the certificate of disability from a Government Medical Board. These candidates should be fit to pursue the programme at the time of admission as well.
    • The percentage of disability of candidates selected for admission under PwD Category will also be required to be certified by a Medical Board. This Medical Board must be one that has been constituted by the admitting institute.

    Some important points to be noted by the candidates are:

    • The provisions for the reserved seats mentioned are subject to modification in accordance with any Government order.
    • It will entirely be the responsibility of a candidate to prove their eligibility for admission in terms of minimum educational qualifications and other parameters as well as for claiming reservation under a specific category.

    Ques. How do you qualify for CEED 2023?

    Ans. Candidates must ensure that they fulfill CEED eligibility criteria before filling the registration form. There is no upper age limit to apply for any programme through CEED 2023. The complete eligibility criteria of CEED 2022 is given below:

    • Candidates must have passed a degree / diploma / postgraduate degree program of 4 years or 3 + 3 years. 
    • Candidates who will be taking the final exam of such programmes by July 2022 or those who have passed GD Arts diploma programme by July 2022 can also apply. 
    • A candidate can appear in CEED any number of times as there is no age limit. 

    Ques. What is CEED Application Fee for general candidates? 

    Ans. CEED 2023 application fees vary as per category. The application fee for all women candidates is INR 1300 as well as for SC / ST / PwD candidates. For general candidates it is INR 2600. 

    Ques. Will CEED 2023 be tough? 

    Ans. Though thousands of candidates registed for CEED every year, only a fraction of them actually end up gaining admission. Design as a discipline in India is very sought after and there aren’t that many colleges that offer seats for such a high demand. Students that aim to get into the best design schools in the country, it will be tough to make it to the top and gain admission.
