    BSE Odisha Exam Pattern 2023: Assessment Criteria

    BSE Odisha Exam Pattern 2023 along with syllabus has been released by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha. As per the new assessment scheme, the current academic year will be split into two terms. The first term will be from May to October and the second term will be from November to April. 

    • BSE Odisha Class 10 Result has been released in June 2023, tentatively.
    • Odisha Class 10 exams dates will be held from March 10 to March 17, 2023.

    As per the  Board of Secondary Education, 100% syllabus has to be followed in class 9 and 10 for both Madhyama, HSC courses and for State Open School Certificate courses for the academic session 2023. The Ex-Regular candidates of HSC, Madhyama and back candidates of the SOSC examination shall appear the examination during 2023 in the same syllabus. The question paper in all subjects will be the same for all categories of candidates.

    Moreover, according to the latest announcement by BSE, Odisha Board Class 10 Examination will be conducted out of 80 marks instead of 100. The total marks of the paper would remain 100 only, however, they will be calculated as an average on the basis of the marks scored by the candidate out of 80. It is important that the students are aware of all the changes that are introduced by the BSE, so that they can prepare accordingly and score well. Knowing the details of the exam pattern will help students get a good score in the exams.

    The students will have to appear in 7 subjects, the total marks for each subject would be 50, and the students will have to score a minimum of 15 marks in order to clear the examination.

    The changes made in the exam pattern of Class 10th Boards are as follows:-

    • The question paper will consist of 4 objective question sets instead of 3.
    • The students will have to score a minimum of 15 marks in both objective and subjective portions separately in order to clear the exam.
    • The distribution of 7 and 8 marks in the General science and Social Science will be changed to 5 and 10 marks.

    BSE Odisha Class 10th assessment will be based on Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation like the preceding year with minor modifications as mentioned below:

    1. There will be two Formative Assessments and one Term-end examination in each term. The syllabus has been designed for four quarters accordingly.
    2. Questions of Term-end examinations (Summative Assessment-I & II) will be from the portion of the syllabus outlined in term-wise breakup of the syllabus which will be approximately 50% of the total syllabus.
    3. Internal Assessment will be conducted as usual in form of Formative Assessments. One Formative Assessment will be conducted in each quarter.
    4. Pattern of questions will be same for both summative Assessments.
    5. Following weightage will be given to different assessments for arriving at the results.
    • Internal Assessment (IA): 20%
    • Summative Assessment-I (SA-I): 40%
    • Summative Assessment-II (SA-II): 40%

    Marking Scheme 

    • According to the marking scheme released by the BSE, the written paper would be of 80 marks, however, the total marks would remain 100.
    • Remaining 20 marks will be given either by conducting practical exams or through internal assessment.

    Assessment Criteria 2023

    The BSE also released an assessment Criteria Odisha boards exam 2023. BSE Odisha Class 10th board exams assessment will be done on the following basis:-

    • Total Marks alloted for each paper is 100
    • Theory paper will contain 80 marks and 20 is allocated for practical exams
    • The total marks for objective type questions is 50
    • There will be a total of ten sections carrying 5 questions each for 1 mark.
    • Instead of MCQs the question paper will comprise of fill in the blanks, one word answer, one sentence answer, column matching, true/ false.
    • The passing marks for each 100 marks paper is 30 and 50 marks paper is 15.
