New Delhi: The Odisha government is set to introduce COVID-19 management and climate change in the class 10 syllabus for the 2022-23 academic year, according to Education Minister S R Dash.

He stated that, with the state already suffering three COVID-19 waves and bracing for the fourth, studies on the pandemic would be incorporated into the curriculum to educate the next generation better. Similarly, he added that with natural disasters striking the state regularly, students should be aware of climate change's influence on human civilisation.

Due to the pandemic scenario, only 75% of the syllabus was taught in the previous couple of years, but beginning with the current academic year, 100% of the class 10 syllabus would be covered and questions will be posted properly on the board examinations, the minister stated.

The Odisha Board of Secondary Education (BSE) released the scheme of assessment and syllabus split for the 2022-23 academic session, which was authorised by the School and Mass Education Department in June 2022, on Saturday.
