BCECE Eligibility 2023: Domicile, Age, Academic Qualification

    BCECE Eligibility Criteria 2023 is determined by Bihar Combined Competitive Entrance Examination Board for Pharmacy, Health Science, and Agriculture courses. As per the basic eligibility criteria, Indian National candidates who are domiciled in Bihar can register themselves for BCECE 2023. Candidates with a minimum of 45% marks in Class 12th with the mandatory subjects, as per their subjects are eligible for the exam.     • The minimum age limit for all courses offered in BCECE (except Agriculture) is 17 years. In order to appear in BCECE for Agriculture course, candidates should be minimum of 16 years of age.

    BCECE (Bihar Combined Entrance Examination) is a state-level entrance exam for admissions to various UG level courses in Agricultural, Pharmacy, and Medical streams in govt. and self-financed institutions in Bihar as well as other states. This is inclusive and applies to all categories of students.     BCECE 2023 Eligibility Criteria for Engineering and Pharmacy Course

    Education Qualification

    • Engineering/Technology (Four Years Program: Candidates should have completed their Higher Secondary or equivalent education with a minimum of 45% or above (40 % for SC/ST/OBC). He/she should have studied Mathematics and Physics as mandatory subjects and Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical vocational subjects as one of the optional subjects.
    • Pharmacy (Four Years Program): Candidates must have passed Higher secondary education or equivalent securing 45% or above (40% for SC/ST/OBC) with Physics and Chemistry as mandatory subjects and Mathematics/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subject as one of the optional subjects.

    Note: The candidates appearing for Higher Secondary or equivalent exam are also eligible to apply for BCECE 2023, provided they have attained the required qualification at the time of counseling.

    Domicile

    Candidates should be Indian National to get admission through BCECE 2023. They should also fulfill one of the following domicile criteria.

    • Parents of Candidates are permanent residents of Bihar.

    Or

    • Parents of Candidates are registered Refugees in Bihar.

    Or

    • Parents of Candidates are residents of other states but are employees of Govt. Of Bihar.

    Or

    • Parents of the Candidate were employees of Govt. of Bihar before reorganization and their employee cadre is yet transferable between Bihar and Jharkhand.

    Or

    • Parents of Candidates are holding posts in Govt. of India and are posted in Bihar or employees of central organization operated by Public sector Undertaking of Govt. Of India.

    Or

    • Parents of Candidates are employees of the national union and are currently posted in Bihar.

    Or

    • Seats nominated by Govt. of Bihar for candidates from Abroad/Indian states and Union territories where the facility of pursuing technical education is not available. Registration of candidates as per the norms and regulations of Central Govt. applicable to institutions located in Bihar. The candidates will be nominated by the government of respective states. These candidates are not required to appear for BCECE 2023.

    Physical Examination

    The selected candidates are required to undergo a medical examination conducted by the appointed doctors. Candidates will be admitted only if they clear the medical examination. There will be separate fees for this examination.

    Age Limit

    There is no minimum age limit prescribed for admission to Engineering/Pharmacy courses. In case, any applicant applies to institutions outside Bihar on the basis of Bihar quota, then the norms and rules for prescribed age limit of that particular institution would be applicable.

    Medical Courses

    BCECE 2023 Eligibility Criteria for Medical Courses

    Education Qualification

    • Candidates must have passed the qualifying exam Higher Secondary or equivalent with English, Physics, Chemistry and Botany/Zoology. He/she should have obtained a minimum of 50 % aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. In case of SC/ST/EBC, the minimum aggregate percentage is relaxed to 40 % and for candidates under lower limb locomotor disability, the minimum aggregate percentage is relaxed to 45 %.
    • For BUMS course from Tibbi College, Patna, candidates should have studied Urdu as a full time course at secondary standard along with all the other necessary qualifications.

    Age Limit

    Candidates should have attained the age of 17 or should do the same by December 31 of the year of admission. The candidate should not be born after Dec 31, 1999. In this regard, the rules for admission into MBBS course would be based on the regulations of Medical Council of India.

    Physical Examination

    The selected candidates are required to undergo medical examination conducted by the appointed doctors. Candidates will be admitted only if they clear the medical examination. There will be separate fees for this examination.

    Domicile

    The domicile criteria for MBBS/BDS would be same as indicated in the domicile criteria for Engineering and Pharmacy courses.

    Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry

    Education Qualification

    The minimum eligibility for educational qualification for courses available in Rajendra Agriculture University, Pusa (Samastipur), and Bihar Agriculture University, Sabor (Bhagalpur) is based upon the following educational qualification.

    Age Limit

    Candidates should have attained the age of 17 years by July 1 of the first year of the academic session for the courses mentioned above. The maximum age limit for these courses is not prescribed.

    Physical Examination

    The selected candidates are required to undergo medical examination conducted by the appointed doctors. Candidates will be admitted only if they clear the medical examination. Candidates are required to pay additional fee for this examination.

    Domicile Criteria

    The domicile criteria for courses under Agricultural Science, Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry will remain same as applicable in the case of Engineering and Pharmacy courses.

    Reservation Criteria

    BCECE Reservation Criteria

    The Reservation of seats for admission through BCECE is done as per the norms of Govt. of Bihar. The important instructions related to the BCECE  Reservation Criteria is highlighted below.

    • Citizens of Bihar who have been declared under reserved category and possess a caste certificate from the competent authority of Govt. of Bihar approving the same will enjoy the benefits of reservation of seats. Such candidates will be allotted the seats reserved for their respective categories in different colleges according to their category merit list.
    • Candidates who are not the residents of Bihar are not eligible to claim seats under reserved categories in colleges situated in Bihar, as per the norms of Govt. of Bihar.
    • The reserved categories for BCECE 2023 will be decided on the basis of list of SC/ST/EBC/BC prepared and approved by Govt. of Bihar prior to the announcement of dates for online application process.
    • The reservation of seats in BCECE 2023 for various reserved categories is indicated in the table mentioned below. The rest 50% of the seats should be considered available for General Category candidates.

    1. In case some seats are reserved for reserved categories against Bihar quota in Technical Institutions (Engineering Stream) outside Bihar, then such seats for the purpose of nomination will be disclosed at the time of counselling.

    Disabled Quota

    BCECE Reservation for Disabled Quota

    Candidates applying under Disability quota should carefully go through the following guidelines before applying for BCECE 2023:

    • Out of total seats available for counselling in each college, 3% seats will be reserved for candidates claiming seats under Disability Quota. If Govt. of Bihar releases any new order before the starting of online application form, then the order released will be followed as the new reservation provision for Disabled candidates.
    • Candidates with disability should get their certificate attested by Chief medical Officer/Board and affix the certificate with Part A and Part B forms with attested full sized photograph. The certificate must explain the category, percentage and status of disability, etc.
    • Candidates claiming disabled quota will be admitted only to those programs in which the disability does not hinder the successful completion of program. They will be permitted to pursue any course only after thorough checkup. There would additional fee for this check-up from the counselling fee.
    Reservation SMQ

    BCECE Reservation for Service Men’s Quota (SMQ)

    Applicants applying under SMQ category should go through the following guidelines before filling the online application form for BCECE:

    • Sons and daughters of servicemen who are residents of Bihar and Ex-servicemen are eligible to apply for SMQ seats. A separate merit list for candidates applying for SMQ seats based on the score obtained in Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination 2023 would be prepared.
    • Personnel who served formerly under Jammu & Kashmir Militia should be treated as “Ex-Service Men”.
    • New Categories of Territorial Army personnel who are being considered as “Ex-Service Men” by the Ministry of Defense. The Categories are
    1.  Pension Holders of the continuous embodied service.
    2.  Disabled Territorial Army personnel with disability attributed to Military Service.
    3.  Family Pension Holders.
    4.  Gallantry Award Winners
    •  In absence of candidates applying under SMQ quota, the seats would remain vacant.
    • Documents are needed to be produced at time of Counselling/interview, without which quota of such candidates will not be accepted and seats to such candidates will be allotted according to their general merit list.
    • Documents required for SMQ verification are: In case of ‘working service men’, Documents verifying their service and the relation of father/mother to the candidate. In case of ‘Ex-servicemen’, Documents verifying relation of father/mother to the candidate and attested certificate from District Army Development Officer.

    Ques.: What are the courses I can take admission in through BCECE if my subjects in 12th are PCB?

    Ans.: Candidates who have opted for PCB in Class 12 can take admission in undergraduate courses of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Lab Technician, OT Assistant, X-Ray Technician, Ophthalmic Assistant, Orthotics and Prosthetics through BCECE 2023.

    Ques.: Which subjects are required for the agriculture stream in BCECE 2023?

    Ans.: Candidates who wish to take admission in agriculture courses through BCECE 2023 are required to clear Class 10+2 with subjects like Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, agriculture, Physics. Candidates can opt for either subject combination like CBA/PCA/MBA/MCA. Candidates should also ensure that they meet the minimum age limit of 16 years.

    Ans.: There is no maximum age limit to appear in BCECE 2023. The minimum age limit for all courses except Agriculture is 17 years. Candidates who wish to take admission in the Agriculture course should be minimum of 16 years of age.

    Ans.: In order to seek admission in the B.Sc nursing program through BCECE 2023, candidates must have completed Class 10+2 with mandatory subjects Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and English with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks. Candidates who will be appearing in the qualifying examination in 2023 can also apply. The minimum age limit is 17 years of age.

    Ques.: I want to seek admission in Pharmacy course through BCECE 2023, what is the education qualification required/

    Ans.: In order to seek admission in a four-year Pharmacy course through BCECE 2023, candidates are required to have completed Class 12th with Physics and Chemistry as mandatory subjects. Candidates can opt for either Mathematics or Biology as the third subject. Apart from the general eligibility criteria, a minimum age limit of 17 years is also applicable.

    Ques.: Can I appear for MCA in BCECE 2023?

    Ans.: Yes. candidates can choose the subject combination of MCA- Mathematics, Chemistry, and Agriculture. Each subject will consist of 300 questions. Candidates will be awarded 4 marks for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. The total duration for the exam is 4 hours 30 minutes, 1 hour 30 minutes is provided for each section.
