The candidate will have to go through the selection process acceptable by the college/university in which they wish to study. The most common approach is a mix of merit and entrance exam.

CLAT, AILET, LSAT India are few national level entrance exams and accepted by many colleges/universities. College/Universities may also have their individual entrance exam. Most colleges/universities require minimum aggregate marks in qualifying U.G. course, which is usually around 50%. 

Students need to follow the below-mentioned steps to apply for colleges offering merit-based admission.

• Visit the college admission department office or official website to check the admission requirement;
• Fill and submit the L.L.M. admission forms as per the direction and format/dimensions prescribed by the college/university.
• The admission department of the respective college/university will process the forms.
• College/University may invite selected candidates for a personal interview and group discussion rounds before offering them admission.

• The candidate should have completed graduation in law (L.L.B) or have an equivalent degree from a recognized university.
• The candidate should have a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying program. (Minimum percentage may vary in certain college universities)
• There is no upper age limit.

LLM Corporate and Commercial Law: Entrance Exams 

Below given is the list of various entrance exams conducted by various institutes to intake students in LLM Corporate and Commercial Law course:

• PG-CLAT is a national level entrance exam conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities. The Exam checks the comprehension level of the candidate. The number of participating colleges is 34 across the country. There are more than 700 seats offered every year.
• AILET is conducted every year by National Law University Delhi. Candidates who clear the entrance exam go through a counseling and final round of admission across 3 colleges in New Delhi. A total of 70 seats are offered for merit students.
• LSAT is conducted by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC). LSAT Entrance Exam contains objective type questions and checks logical reasoning, critical thinking, and comprehension aptitude. The shortlisted candidates can choose from 7 participating colleges across the country.

• All national level entrance exams have different syllabus; hence, you should check prior year exam papers.
• Prepare extensively around the entrance exam syllabus. Make sure you are aware of rules such as negative marking, time limit, number of questions asked in specific exams etc.
• Apart from topics related to legal studies, also prepare for areas like logical aptitude, critical thinking, and language comprehension.
• Make sure you are familiar with current news affairs in general as well as the legal industry.
• Identify your strong and weak areas.

• Keep an eye on application deadlines and apply to a college of your choice well in advance.
• The Candidate needs to have a clear understanding of topics covered during the Bachelors of Law (L.L.B) program. Most of the entrance exams check candidates' knowledge and experience of a legal domain.
• The Candidate must prepare for group discussion and personal interview. Practice impromptu speeches; Be clear and confident.
