3 YearsLatest Update: Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP), Kolkata is inviting applications for admission to its PhD program in Physics and Biophysical Sciences starting from August 2023 (2023-24 Session). The last date to apply for admission is April 25, 2023.
Selection of candidates for admission to PhD program will be done based on previous academic records, performances in nationwide screening tests and interview conducted by the institute. The interview for shortlisted candidates will be held in the month of May 2023.
Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata offers PhD programs with 2 specialization options. It offers a PhD program in Biophysical Sciences and Physics. In the Physics specialization, the candidate intake is based on two different branches that are Experimental Physics and Theoretical Physics. The duration of the PhD course is 3 years. The course curriculum starts with Pre PhD programs which are known as Post M.Sc. program which is divided into 3 trimesters.
The eligibility criteria for the programs is that the candidates must have secured a minimum of 60% marks in M.Sc. with specialization subjects. The admission criteria are based on the performance in national levels entrance tests such as JEST, GATE, CSIR or UGC NET, and JGEEBILS.

Candidates have to provide the ranking details of applied nation-level entrance such as JGEEBILS, JEST, GATE, CSIR, or UGC NET.
The admission procedure is conducted through online mode. The screening of the candidates is based on the marks of national-level entrance examination ranks that are provided by the candidates in the application form. The selected candidates are further screened through the online interview process.

The PhD program provides two specializations which started with the Post M.Sc. curriculum. The total duration of the PhD course is 3 years, in which Post M.Sc. programs are divided into three trimesters. The detail of the syllabus is given below:
