If you are looking for a top-notch college for finance, NL Dalmia Institute (New Learning Dimensions) can be a great option for you. Here are some reasons why:

  • Highly qualified faculty: The faculty at NLD is highly qualified and experienced, with many of them coming from top institutes such as IIM (Indian Institute of Management). For instance, Naveen Bhatia is from IIM and is a highly recognized personality in the industry.
  • Comprehensive curriculum: The curriculum for finance at NLD is designed to provide you with an in-depth understanding of the subject. If you compare it with the curricula of other top colleges, you will see that NLD's curriculum is at par or even better. Even reputed colleges like Welingkar do not have such a comprehensive curriculum.
  • Two-year program: The finance program at NLD is a two-year program, which means that you will have enough time to learn and understand the subject thoroughly. Over the course of two years, you will be groomed with in-depth finance knowledge, which will be invaluable in your corporate career building.
  • Career prospects: After completing the finance program at NLD, you will have excellent career prospects. You will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the finance industry. The college has a good placement record, with many students getting placed in reputed organizations.

In conclusion, NLD can be an excellent choice for you if you are looking for a college for finance. The highly qualified faculty, comprehensive curriculum, two-year program, and excellent career prospects make NLD one of the finest colleges for finance.

From your question, it seems as though you are trying to figure out two things, i.e.

  1. Whether to go for an MBA degree?
  2. If MBA, then what among NL Dalmia or PUMBA?

I would be answering both of your questions individually. As far as your first question is concerned, try and ask yourself why do you want to go for an MBA:

  • Are you genuinely interested in pursuing an MBA degree or are you taking inspiration from your friends?
  • Are you pursuing an MBA degree because your friends and relatives have compelled you?
  • Do you not have anything better to do?

If you think you can do justice to another 2 years of life, then go for it.

Assuming you have understood why you are going for an MBA degree, let me address your second question.

You should do some prior research by checking and comparing how the placement statistics of both the colleges look like. If you want to go for MBA Finance, I've heard good things about Dalmia from my friends.

My brother attended PUMBA and based on his experience, I will say it is a great management school. Here are some points about PUMBA.

  • Internship: Here you would have 2 internship opportunities for 5 months, unlike any other college. You can choose incubation projects too.
  • Fees: The affordable fee is one of the things that sets this B-School apart from others. For the General category, it is almost Rs. 65,000 for an entire year.
  • Exposure: For any extra or co-curricular activities, you will get a whole lot of exposure. Plus, it would be even better if you get to work for a particular cell- alumni, cultural or placement, etc.
  • Faculty: The faculty base is great.
  • Placement: There exist no 100% placement records, frankly. If you are capable, you would get a good package. A bonus would be a good academic background. Here are the recent placement highlights.

Average CTC

6.43 LPA

Highest CTC

16 LPA

No of recruiters

Major recruiters

HDFC Bank, Infosys, Tata Capital, etc.

  • Timing: The schedule is not tight, therefore, you can consider picking up a hobby and perfecting it.

Honestly, there isn't anything bad that I can think of for PUMBA. You can definitely give this institute a shot.

Before joining any college it's better to perform some research on it. The foremost thing is you need to know all the placement details from alumni or the students who are currently studying in that college. Don’t choose a college based only on their advertisement.

Dalmia NL, SIES (MMS), and Welingker(PGDM) all these colleges are well-reputed institutions in Mumbai for management studies. I have friends pursuing their studies at these colleges. Based on what I heard, I will say N L Dalmia is the best college among these three. It has better placement records, ranking, and reputation.

  • For Finance specialization, N L Dalmia has a limited student intake, i.e. 60 seats.
  • Additionally, the institute has Mumbai's first Bloomberg Finance Lab.
  • It has a placement average of 100%. The average package for placement in the finance stream is around 6.5 lacs, while the highest package offered is above 13 lacs.

So, N L Dalmia is definitely a better choice. But before making a decision, do your own research first.

I have friends at both institutes. In fact, they were a big help in regards to answering this question. Here is some of the information I got from them.

NL Dalmia is generally well known for its MMS Finance branch. Among NL Dalmia and PUMBA, the former should be better for an MMS. Here’s why.

  • The faculty of NL Dalmia is great.
  • The campus and the library of the institute are quite amazing. There’s a big auditorium on campus.
  • It is the only college in Mumbai to have Bloomberg terminals.
  • Other than the Bloomberg lab there are two computer labs.

Here are the latest placement highlights of both institutes. Take a look.

PUMBA (Pune)

Put simply, N.L Dalmia is basically well known for its program of MBA Finance, while PUMBA is typically well reputed for various IT companies visiting the campus for placement offers. So, choose wisely.

For Finance, PUMBA is superior because it is a college that its students entirely drive to. Students here bring the businesses to campus themselves and plan and run all of the events. Thus, students receive training in prospecting, public relations management, and other related skills. Additionally, IIM A faculty members teach financial management courses at PUMBA.

The average package for PUMBA and SIES is nearly identical and ranges between 7.5 and 8 lakh.

When it comes to fees, PUMBA costs 1.3 lakhs for two years. SIES costs more than five lakhs in fees. Regarding lodging, PUMBA offers hostel services for just Rs.4500 annually. SIES doesn't have a hostel of its own.

NL Dalmia has a specific focus on finance, which makes it a good option for candidates looking to specialize in finance. On the other hand, PUMBA offers a more general management education with a focus on practical learning and industry exposure.

BIMTECH, Greater Noida offers a good curriculum with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. The institute has a strong industry connection and offers a variety of electives to choose from. However, its ranking is lower than NL Dalmia and PUMBA.
