Vivekananda College was established in 1950 in Thakurpukur, Kolkata. There are total 700 students enrolled in different courses every year.

Vivekananda College Thakurpukur offers UG and PG courses. At the UG level, the college offers B.A, B.Sc and B.Com (Hons. and general). M.A in 2 specializations is offered at the PG level.

The process of application is online and offline for all the programs. Candidates have to download the application form online and submit at college. Candidates can also get the application form from the college.
The minimum eligibility for admission in UG courses 10+2 in relevant stream with at least 50% aggregate marks.
For M.A, a graduate degree from a recognized university is required to be eligible.

Vivekananda College Thakurpukur B.A, B.Sc and B.Com Admission 2023

Vivekananda College offers B.A, B.Sc and B.Com degree at the UG level. All the courses are offered at Hons and General level. B.A and B.Sc are offered in 7 and 12 specializations.

The minimum eligibility for admission in any of the UG course is that the candidates should be passed in 10+2 with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognized board. The selection will be done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination.

Important points:

For B.A Hons, the candidates must have that particular subject of specialization in 10+2 with at least 45% marks to be eligible.
For SC/ST, the minimum percentage required is 40% in 10+2 for Hons. courses and minimum 30% in top four subjects for B.A, B.Sc and B.Com General courses.
For OBC-A and OBC-B categories, the eligibility criteria are same as mentioned in the above table.
Candidates with a good track record in games and sports can be considered a special case for admission.
The marks obtained in the top four subjects will be considered to calculate the aggregate marks of candidates in 10+2. The candidates passed from West Bengal Board/other board/university should pass in five recognized subjects of which at least one should be a language subject.
Candidates coming from other boards have to provide the migration certificate to the college within two months from the date of admission.
For B.Sc Hons. in Economics, candidates must have passed in Mathematics at 10+2.

Vivekananda College Thakurpukur M.A Admission 2023

The college offers M.A in 2 specializations. The courses offered are affiliated to Calcutta University. The minimum eligibility is that the candidate should have a graduation degree in a relevant subject.

Selection will be done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination. Candidates seeking admission in M.A can apply through college’s official website or receive the form from the college.

The process of application is online and offline for all the courses. Candidates can fill the application form online or obtain the form from the college campus.

For online applications:

Click on the “Admission” link and select, “On Line Admission Form” from the drop-down list
The form has to be filled with correct details as no correction would be accepted after the final submission.
For the application of more than one course, a separate application form has to be submitted.

Application Process for Foreign Students

Foreign students can apply for any course in the college provided they submit the following documents in advance:

Student’s Visa
Original and attested copies of Admit Card and Mark sheet of the last Public Examination.
Original and attested copies of Admit Card of Madhyamik (Class 10^th) or Equivalent Examination as proof of age.
Original and attested copies of Certificate from the Competent Authority for the caste of S.C. / S.T. and for Handicapped Candidates.
Original Migration Certificate for students migrating from other Boards / University, if available.
Three copies of stamp size recent (not before 6 months) photograph of the student.
Duly filled registration form.

Vivekananda College is an undergraduate college situated in Thakurpukur. It is affiliated with Calcutta University. The college has a great infrastructure and academic environment. It also offers many co-curricular activities.

This majorly depends on your location and where you live.

If you belong to South Kolkata or plan to stay there, commuting to Vivekananda College, Thakurpukur will be easier for you.

But if you are from North Kolkata or from the suburbs, it is suggested that you go for Acharya Prafulla Chandra College or Acharya Girish Chandra Bose College. This is because they will be near Sealdah Railway Station.
