Institute of Law, Nirma University (ILNU) is a private legal studies and training institute located in Ahmedabad. The Institute was set up under the aegis of Nirma University in 2007. The college offers various Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral programs in legal education.

The UG program is offered in two 5-year Integrated courses – BA- L.L.B. (Hons.) and B.Com-LL.B. (Hons.). LL.M. course is offered in various specializations. The university also offers Ph.D. program by Institute of Law, Nirma University.

Candidates applying to UG courses should have passed Class 12 or any equivalent examination with minimum aggregate marks of 45%.
Admission to the LL.M. course is done for candidates who have successfully passed a LL.B. with at least 55% marks in aggregate.
Candidates seeking admission in Ph.D. program need a Master’s degree in Law with a minimum of 55% marks.
Admission to UG and PG courses is done on the basis of merit in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) examination.
The CLAT examination is conducted in the month of May every year.

Institute of Law, Nirma University BA-LL.B. and B.Com-LL.B. Admission 2023

Institute of Law offers five-year integrated BA-LL.B. and B.Com-LL.B. at UG level. Candidates applying should have passed Class 12 or any equivalent examination conducted by CBSE, State Board or any other recognized board with minimum aggregate marks of 45%.

Admissions are done on the basis of All India merit rank in CLAT examination. Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their rank. The shortlisted candidates then need to attend an on-campus counselling and complete final admission formalities

Key Points:

The BA-LL.B. (Hons.) course has an intake of 120 +60 students while the B.Com- LL.B. (Hons.) course has an intake of 120 students.
NRI/NRI Sponsored category students are also eligible to apply.
There is no upper age limit for applying.
Those who are appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible. However, they shall be required to produce evidence of passing the qualifying exam at the time of admission.
Admissions for the NRI candidates are also done on the basis of CLAT rankings.
Candidates must fill CLAT Application Form before filling ILNU Application Form.

Institute of Law, Nirma University LL.M. Admission 2023

At PG level, the institute offers LL.M in five specializations. Admission to LL.M. course is done for candidates who have successfully passed a 3-year L.L.B. or a 5-year Integrated Law Degree Program as recognized by the Bar Council of India with at least 55% marks in aggregate. The intake of each specialization is 15.

Admission to is based on merit in the CLAT (LL.M.) examination. Candidates shortlisted on the basis of their rank need to attend on-campus counselling. The weightage of admission test will be for 70% of the total marks of the test and the rest of the 30% will be equally distributed on the basis of work experience (if any).

The institute offers Constitutional Law and Criminal Law. Candidates seeking admission in 2-year Ph.D. program need a Master’s degree in Law from any accredited Indian or Foreign University with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale.

For the first step of admissions, candidates need to attempt an entrance test. Candidates who score a minimum of 55% in the entrance test are shortlisted for the interview round. Finally, admissions are done on the basis of performance in the entrance test, previous academic record, and performance in the interview round.

Candidates applying to the UG courses can apply only through the online mode. Applications for L.L.M. course can be done through offline mode.

Candidates applying to the UG courses need to create a login account in the college website and then fill the online application form..
The application fee can be paid through Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking method.
Candidates applying to the L.L.M. programme need to download the application form available at the website.
The filled in application form along with a DD drawn in favour of ‘Institute of Law, Nirma University’ payable at Ahmedabad needs to be sent to the campus via post.
Candidates will be informed about the counselling schedule via e-mail.

Up to 15% of the total intake is likely to be filled-in under NRI/NRI Sponsored category.
15% supernumerary seats will be for Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Foreign Nationals (FN) and Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries-South East Asia (CIWGC-SEA)

Institute of Law, Nirma University Scholarships

Merit Cum Means scholarship is provided to students every year. The Merit Cum means scholarship criteria is given below -

If you are looking for a diverse crowd, you will probably not find that at these colleges. At Nirma University, you will mostly see students coming from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh in varying numbers. You will notice a similar situation for NLU Guwahati where most students Assamese and North Eastern in large numbers.

The point is that you will not feel a sense of belonging here if you don’t belong to these majority groups.

Nirma University - Winning Institute

In terms of curriculum, exposure, and faculty, Nirma is definitely one of the top private colleges that will match with and perhaps even exceed NLUs many times.
The institute is great when it comes to making connections and placements are good too. You will definitely be able to land a good law firm here. Some of these include Wadia, Gandhi, Amarchand, and Mindcrest.
