Yenepoya Medical College (YMC) is a constituent college of Yenepoya University. Graduates from the college get a median salary package of INR 4.8 LPA. Yenepoya Medical College Admission

The admission procedure for some of the important courses is mentioned below:

  • MBBS: Candidates applying for the MBBS program must register through the KEA website after qualifying NEET (UG). Only those candidates who have qualified NEET are eligible to apply for KEA counseling for UG medical. The application fee & counseling fee for NEET & KEA counseling can be paid via online modes such as credit/ debit cards and net-banking. The application cannot be done offline. 
  • B.Sc:  Selection of candidates for the B.Sc. program is done through an entrance test/ personal interview or both conducted by the institute. Candidates seeking admission to the B.Sc. programs may apply at the institute level for admission purposes. The application form, in this case, can be filled online or collected from the institute campus by paying the prescribed application fee through DD. Online candidates can pay the application fee using a credit/ debit card or net-banking.
  • M.D / M.S:  Selection of candidates is done through KEA counseling on the basis of the NEET-PG score. Aspiring candidates may apply and appear for NEET-PG and then register through KEA and attend its respective counseling. The application process, as well as fee payment, is through online mode. 
  • M. Ch. : Selections of candidates for the two M.Ch. courses are done through KEA counseling on the basis of the NEET-SS score. After having given the exam, the candidates can register through KEA and attend the respective counseling. 
  • Other: For the BHA, BPH, MHA, MPH, M.Sc, PG Diploma, Certificate Courses, and Fellowship programs, Yenepoya University conducts Entrance Exam in one center on University Campus.  Offline counseling and admission are made on the basis of the rank lists drawn thereon.

How to apply?

The steps to apply through KEA after giving the respective examination is mentioned below:

  • Visit the KEA website and select “UGET-2024 Online Registration” or “PGET-2024 Online Registration”. 
  • Upload the scanned copy of recent passport size Colour Photograph, Signature, and Left Hand Thumb Impression in JPG / JPEG format separately. 
  • Pay the requisite fee in the prescribed method.
  • Take a printout of the application form on A-4 Size paper and the same copy should be produced during document verification.

Yenepoya Medical College Scholarships

The Yenepoya Foundation, which is a unit of the Yenepoya Moideen Kunhi Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust, announced its plan to sponsor certain meritorious candidates from economically weaker sections for certain courses in the Yenepoya Deemed to be University. The courses in Yenepoya Medical College that are applicable for this scholarship include:

  • BHA (Bachelor of Health Administration)
  • BPH (Bachelor of Public Health)

Candidates will be selected on the basis of merit cum means. The Qualifying Examination marks would be assessed in this selection process. The eligibility for the scholarship includes only those candidates who have secured 80% and above in Grade X, Grade XI / Plus I Examination, and Plus II Pre Board examination/ Mid Term examination. Preference will be given to Muslim minority candidates. 

Yenepoya Medical College Hostel

All the hostel rooms are furnished and equipped with basic amenities. PG hostels are air-conditioned, whereas, in UG hostels, air-conditioned rooms are provided as per the personal request. The hostels have attached dining halls, TV rooms, Wi-Fi facilities, RO drinking water, and Laundry facilities. Separate hostels are provided for both men and women as follows. YMK men’s hostel has a capacity of 500, Zulekha ladies hostel has an 866 capacity and Gardenia Hostel, which has three blocks, can house 216 male students in Block A, 600 female students in Block B, and an extra block C for female students.

The facilities provided by Yenepoya Medical College include:

  • Sports Complex: There is one sports ground present in the college area and basketball, volleyball, badminton and squash courts near the hostel. The sports complex also includes a sophisticated, fully-fledged gymnasium with imported gym equipment. They also have a theatre of 150 seating capacity with Dolby digital sound system inside the sports complex.
  • Yenepoya is a digital campus supported by Yen-Net (Wi-Fi) service which works 24X7 covering 90% of the living area in the campus. The University provides filtered and secured data access to learning material as well as entertainment and social channels.
  • Library: The library does not just have 30,000 books, but also access to various e-resources including the e-databases such as EBSCO, HELINET, INFONET and the other subscriptions. There is also an e-learning centre and a digital library to aid students in online learning.
  • Laundry services: In house laundry services take care of daily laundry requirements. They manage all kinds of laundry, such as general linen of hotels, uniforms, and garments, including dry-cleaning and ironing services. Their machinery allows them to wash linen while utilising up to 75% less water, chemicals, and energy.

Ques. What are the documents required while applying for admission?

Ans. Documents Required required during admission are:

Ques. Can I apply to this college without the NEET exam?

Ans. For the MBBS, MD / MS, and M. Ch. courses, the NEET examination is necessary as per the guidelines of the Medical College of India. You can apply for the BHA, BPH, and B.Sc courses without having given the NEET exam before. The other courses require MBBS as eligibility criteria, which can be achieved only after giving the NEET Exam. 

Ques. What is the process for the application of scholarship?

Ans. A passport size photograph, copy of marks card of the examinations mentioned duly attested by the Principal of the respective school/ college, should be enclosed. The application can be mailed to The Secretary, Yenepoya Moideen Kunhi Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust, Yenepoya University Campus, University Road, Deralakatte, Mangalore – 575 018. 

Ques. What are the freeze, float and withdrawal options in the NEET counseling form? 

Ans. If the candidate is satisfied with the allotted college in the form and does not want to be considered for any more rounds of the counseling can use the Freeze option. This is also known as the Lock option. On the other hand, if the candidate is satisfied but also wants to be considered for other colleges and rounds, he can use the Float option. Lastly, if the student is not satisfied with allotted college, and does not want to appear for the subsequent rounds, he can use the withdraw option. 

Ques. What are the general details of the NEET exam?

Ans. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exam is an offline test multiple choice question paper that lasts 3 hours. It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It has 3 sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/ Biotech. For every correct answer, 4 marks are given and for every wrong, 1 mark is cut.
