College of Engineering Karunagappally is a government engineering and technology institute located in Karunagappally, in Kollam district of Kerala, India. Established in 1999, the college is affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (AKTU). CEK Karunagappally offers B.Tech and M.Tech at UG and PG level.

College of Engineering Karunagapally B.Tech Admission 2023

College of Engineering Kallooppara B.Tech and B.Tech Lateral in 3 specializations. The intake capacity for B.Tech is 60 seats in each specialization.

For B.Tech, candidates should have completed 10+2 with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics put together and 50% marks in Mathematics separately. For Lateral Entry admission, candidates should have passed Diploma in the relevant discipline or B.Sc with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics to be eligible.

Admission in B.Tech is done through valid score in KEAM. Admission in B.Tech Lateral Entry is done on the basis of a valid score in LET, conducted by DTE, Government of Kerala.

Key Points:

  • All seats under Lateral Entry scheme will be filled from the common rank list prepared by DTE for LET Admission 2021.
  • 15% of seats under Lateral Entry is reserved as Management seats in Aided Engineering Colleges and remaining 85% will be allotted as Government seats.
  • 3% seats are reserved for Physically Disabled candidates. Candidates claiming reservation under physically disabled quota shall have a minimum of 40% disability.
  • One seat each is reserved for Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, and Information Technology branch for defense quota.

College of Engineering Karunagapally M.Tech Admission 2023

The college offers M.Tech in 2 specializations. Candidates should have a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or CGPA 6.5 on a 10-point scale in the Bachelor’s degree examination to be eligible for admission.

For SC/ST candidates, a pass in the Engineering Degree course is sufficient. For SEBC (OBC) students, a minimum of 54% aggregate marks in the Engineering Degree examination is mandatory. Candidates, who have passed AMIE / AMIETE Examinations with a minimum of 55% marks are eligible for admission. Selection will be based on GATE score.

Key Points:

  • In case of a tie, the advantage will be given to the candidates who secure highest aggregate marks up to the sixth semester in their qualifying examination.
  • In case seats remain vacant due to lack of candidates with valid GATE score, candidates from Kerala State without valid GATE score will be considered against such vacancies. If seats are still remaining vacant, candidates from other states will be considered for admission.
  • 5% Seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC).
  • 15% Seats are reserved for SC/ST Candidates. The seats reserved for each category will be distributed among the eligible communities by observing the pattern of general reservation rules of the state.
  • 3% seats are reserved for physically handicapped candidates.
  • If any sponsored seat remains unfilled, it can be converted to merit seats and the institutions themselves can fill the above seats by inviting separate applications from among the candidates figuring in the rank list published by DTE on merit basis and reservation policy.

Candidates can apply by filling the application form online by visiting the official website of the college. Documents to be submitted at the time of admission:

B.Tech Lateral Entry Application Process

Candidates can apply by filling the application form online by visiting the official website DTE Kerala. They can fill the form and remit the application fee of INR 750 (INR 350 for SC/ST candidates), which can be paid in ‘Shakti account’ of the Joint Controller of Technical Examination at any branch of State Bank of Travancore.

M.Tech Lateral Entry Application Process

Candidates can visit the official website of DTE Kerala and fill the form. After submitting the application form, candidates need to remit an application fee of INR 500 (INR 100 for SC/ST) in any specified branch of State Bank of Travancore.
