Motiram Baburam Government Post Graduate College was established in 1960. It is one of the leading colleges in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. It has had a 'VISHISTA MAHAVIDYALAYA' tag since 2004. It is a prestigious college in the Shivalik Foothills.

This college offers a wide range of Graduation, Post Graduation and Professional courses. They also provide an excellent Yoga course. The course names are BA, B.Sc., B.Com, MA, M.Sc., M.Com, Diploma, and PG Diploma.

The admissions to all the courses at MBGPG are merit based. Candidates can apply online as well as offline for the desired course.

Admission to this college is mainly merit-based for Academic Courses and merit-based for Professional Courses.

For B.Sc, B.A, M.Sc, M.A courses, the admission is merit-based. The other courses like Diploma require an interview test after getting selected.

Online Application:

First, you need to visit the Kumaun University official

Go to the official website and click on the Admission tab.
An Admission Portal will open in front of you.
Then you need to fill all the details required from personal, educational details.
Now you need to select your desired program and attach any documents for eligibility criteria.
Finally, you have to submit the counselling fees and take out the print out of the application form.
Your admission to the college is finally submitted.

MBGPG, Nainital Scholarships

MBGPG offers various scholarships to the students. They are -

Unserved Scholarship: This scholarship is offered to undergraduate students who are coming to college by travelling 10 km. They are sanctioned scholarships by the Deputy Director of Education, Kumaon Region, Nainital. To avail the scholarship you must get more than 50% marks in the Intermediate Examination and parent's income should not be more than Rs 600 per month.
Varsity Scholarship: This is sanctioned during the post-graduation time at first year. To avail the scholarship you must get more than 50% marks in Graduation Examination and parent's income should not be more than Rs 900 per month.
National Scholarship: It is sanctioned to students of graduation and post-graduation during the first year. To avail this scholarship you must get a first class in Intermediate or Graduation examination and the parent's annual income should be less than Rs 25,000.
National Scholarship: It is sanctioned to students of graduation and post-graduation during the first year. To avail this scholarship you must get a first class in Intermediate or Graduation examination and the parent's annual income should be less than Rs 25,000.
Military Scholarship: This scholarship is provided to the wards of ex-servicemen and is sanctioned from the office of UP Armed Personnel Rehabilitation Fund, Lucknow. Scholarship to the wards of freedom fighters is given by the Deputy Director of Education, Kumaon Region.
Students belonging to OBC/SC/ST are sanctioned scholarships. For this, they have to apply to the college and attach the caste certificate issued by competent authority. You also need to submit the father's income certificate (not more than six months old) and marks sheet of the last examination passed. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Students residing outside Uttarakhand will also get scholarships from their concerned state.

Following are the facilities catered by the college for the students:

Library: Lots of books and research guides are available. Students can issue 2 books at a time. They are given a month's time to read the books. Students have to return the book before the stipulated time.
Reading Room: This college has separate reading rooms for boys and girls. Newspapers and Magazines are updated daily.
Research and Consultancy: A research area, campus training, workshops and labs are provided to the PhD students. A research environment exists in the college.
Cultural Association: Various co-curricular activities are arranged by the college. Festivals and other activities are also maintained by the association.
Students Union: This union supports students in their career guidance. They also have a strong alumni support with a primary learning experience.
Hostels: Separate hostels for boys and girls are there with mess facilities. It is specially built for students travelling to college from outside states.
