Which one is a better college to pursue an MBA: LBSIM -Delhi or BIM-Trichy?

● Top Answer By Alok Patel on 05 Jul 21

Ans
This is always a tough question to answer. You can consider a number of assumptions in order to shortlist the business school you would like to go to. You can compare the one you like to them and make your decision: Assumption 1: Business schools presently are student-driven and this mostly has nothing to do with the faculty, infrastructure, or even the knowledge capital for that matter. The classroom is the place that will facilitate you with all these opportunities and knowledge will be disseminated here. This needs to be applied to activities outside the classroom as well. Assumption 2: Alumni are an important factor for colleges. Because of alumni connections, a lot of places like FMS, JBIMS, IMT Ghaziabad are quite well-known business schools. Assumption 3: Part of who you become also depends on what activities you choose to pursue in college. These include clubs and committees, business school events, or if you choose to only focus on academics and get a good CGPA. This will surely help you get good placements. Assumption 4: Sometimes, the location of the school will also play to your advantage. For eg. Mumbai or Delhi located B-schools. Assumption 5: You should also know that rankings do not matter for the top 10 to 15 schools. Assumption 6: The placements are dependent upon the alumni base and past history. Most companies that come for repeat recruitments are usually less than 50% for most business schools. Every year it comes down to reinvention and it boils down to the alumni. But, in reality, placements are hard work and luck with a 30:70 ratio. There are also the usual perceptions that some schools are better in marketing and others are good in finance, etc. You should choose wisely and make your decision accordingly.

Which is better for finance, Lal Bahadur Shastri or Fore School of Management? Is it worth it to take admission in LBSIM?

● Top Answer By Shivangi Chaudhary on 22 Jul 21

Ans
If you look at FORE’s prior placement statistics, you'll notice that even before they started this new PGDM in Financial Management, they were a good pick for the financial sector, finance businesses, and overall BFSI. Until a few years ago, LBSIM was an excellent venue for PGDM Finance. However, some of the best faculty members have left LBSIM. When compared to other institutes in its category, LBSIM offers cutting-edge infrastructure and possibly the best finance faculty. It offers a tough curriculum, and recruiters come in with core finance profiles; on top of that, LBSIM has a higher return on investment. FORE is a good school as well, but why pay more for similar opportunities. Particulars LBSIM FORE Fees 11.67 lakh 15.98 lakh Top recruiters Asian Paints, Nestle, Hindustan, Bacardi, TATA Motors, Hero, Whirlpool, HDFC, etc Microsoft, Capgemini, Razorpay, HCL Technologies, LT Foods, Blackstone and Hindware, etc Placement rate 97% 100% Average salary package 10.6 LPA 9.2 LPA Highest salary package 30 LPA 32 LPA Just remember that it’s all about your career opportunities so think wisely and then make any decision.

Which is better for an MBA - Nirma or LBSIM in Delhi?

● Top Answer By Krishna Srivastav on 23 Jun 21

Ans
The choice here ultimately comes down to your interest. First, decide whether you are interested in pursuing specialized MBA courses like MBA in finance or are you more inclined towards MBA general where you can opt for a specialization in your second year. I have some friends at LBSIM Delhi. So, can give you some insight into the institute. Specializations: You will be having a variety of specializations to choose from if you go for LIBSIM. You will get an enormous amount of exposure in terms of corporate, guest lecturers, meet-ups with major industrialists if you opt for this B-School. Location: When it comes to location, there is an advantage too, located in Delhi which is India's capital and surrounded by two major industrial hubs, Gurgaon and Noida. Alumni Base: Alumni base of LIBSIM is strong and the institute has maintained an amazing placement record as well. 2021 Placements Average CTC 9.2 LPA Highest CTC 32 LPA No of recruiters 80+ Major recruiters Classplus, Microsoft, Capgemini Other B-Schools in India ranging equal in terms of ranking like Nirma fail to meet up the expectations of students as LIBSIM has set the bar too high.

Which is better: LBSIM or GIM?

● Top Answer By Shinjini Ghosh on 24 Jun 21

Ans
One of my friends studied in LBSIM. According to him, when it comes to the courses in LBSIM, it comprises 2 courses, namely, PGDM General and PGDM Finance. Considering PGDM General, the dual specialization subjects include Operations, Finance, HR, Systems and Marketing which could be selected after 1 year. Considering PGDM Finance, the subjects for dual specialization include Investment Management, Strategic Accounting and Control, Treasury Management, and Risk Management. These can be selected after 1 year of completion. This depicts that the Institute offers a lot of subjects to choose from for the specialization. The Institute is quite good in terms of alumni and placements also. Categories LBSIM Course Fee 3.48 - 15.29 lakh Highest CTC 12 LPA Average CTC 9.9 LPA Recruiting Companies Accenture, Capgemini, TCS, Oracle, etc. The other advantages of the Institute include guest lectures, the location being Delhi, the Capital of the country with Noida and Gurgaon as the working sectors give a lot of job opportunities. Along with these, the college gives a lot of exposure in the corporate world and also the famous and reputed industrialists come for visits, seminars, and lectures. The Institute according to its ranking provides good exposure.

● Top Answer By Pritam Chatterjee on 28 Jun 21

Ans
One of my cousins studied at LBSIM. So I can share some facts about it. This might help you get a better idea about the college. LBSIM offers 2 courses - PGDM General and PGDM Finance. After completing 1 year in PGDM General you can choose a dual specialization from - Finance, Marketing, HR, Operations, and Systems. After completing 1 year in PGDM Finance you can choose a dual specialization from - Treasury Management, Investment Management, Risk Management, Strategic Accounting & Control. You will get proper industrial and corporate exposure. Guest lectures are conducted. Being in Delhi and surrounded by Gurgaon and Noida, the college has a locational advantage. Categories Finance at LBSIM Course Fee 15.29 lakh Highest CTC 21-28 LPA Average CTC 9-12 LPA Recruiting Companies EY, Deloitte, Vivo, KPMG, etc. There are a lot of colleges from the same league which fails to provide enough facilities, exposure, and learning opportunities to their students. But here LBSIM beats every single one of them.

What kind of interview questions can we expect from LBSIM for PGDM finance?

● Top Answer By Sunetra Ghose on 07 Mar 22

Ans
One of my friends applied for PGDM Finance at LBSIM last year and was shortlisted for the interview round. Here are the questions that he had to answer during his interview.  There was a year gap after his graduation, so they asked what he did in that time period. He explained that he was self-employed. After the brief introduction, the following questions were asked. How will you explain balance sheet to students? Tell us something about Gearing ratio. Share your views about direct and indirect expenses. Tell us about Lawrence Curve. Tell us about Debt equity ratio.  To his surprise, he wasn’t asked the general questions like Why MBA? Strength and weakness, etc. Overall his experience was good and he was able to convert the call.

How is the scenario of internships in FORE and LBSIM?

● Top Answer By Ranvir Pathak on 29 Jun 21

Ans
Having friends in both FORE and LBSIM, I can say that they are the top MBA institutes in Delhi that have big-brand value. FORE School of Management There are a variety of internship roles that get offered to the students. It includes Consulting, Market Research, Sales, Business Development, Pre-Sales, and others. The big corporations that visit the campus for SIP (summer internship project) are E&Y, Deloitte, United Biscuits, United Breweries, Maruti Suzuki, Genpact, Expedia, IDBI, and more. These companies pay a lucrative stipend to the students. FORE provides a bunch of opportunities to the students sitting for SIP. Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management The SIPs are in BFSI, Research & Consultancy, Engineering & Durables, E-Commerce, FMCG, IT/ITES, and Others. Out of these, Research & Consultancy placed the maximum students (29% of the batch). The average stipend offered is 19,500/month while the highest is 96,000/month. There are over 150 companies that come for SIP placements. The new recruiters were Mahindra Finance, L&T Finance, Bajaj Capital, ONGC, Google, HPCL, ABC Consultants, Chegg, Mazars, and others. In both institutes, the SIP Placement scenario is similar. For selecting the students, companies follow the steps: Resume-Shortlisting, Group Discussion, and Personal Interview. Apart from the above, a few companies may also ask to write an online test. The students can also get PPO/PPI from some of the listed companies.

How is life at LBSIM Delhi?

● Top Answer By Ayush Saha on 24 Jun 21

Ans
My sister has completed her 1st year of PGDM-General this year, and according to her experience, LBSIM provides you with great opportunities all the way. Following is a general routine you can expect once you get in there. Daily routine: Your day will start early with getting ready in the formals, attending classes, and having some light moments during break time. Post lunch, you will be discussing and preparing yourself for projects and presentations. You will be engaged in case studies, projects, and presentations along with the course studies. Thus, time management is the key here. Opportunities: You will be provided with a plethora of opportunities to work on yourself by enrolling in clubs that match your interest. Support: Seniors are quite friendly and humble enough to guide you through the learning process. Infrastructure: One of the most remarkable things on campus is the Bloomberg Lab(12 terminals). Not all B-Schools in India are able to provide such insightful access to international market data. Amusement: There will be cultural night and fests to break up the monotony. Campus: Last, but not least, the campus might not be vast but has been efficiently utilized to provide you with a state of the art infrastructure Overall, LBSIM Delhi provides a lifetime experience of a great curriculum, facilities, and opportunities. However, what makes it more special is the campus life as you meet new people and make memories you will cherish your whole life.
