Since I have a good friend of mine currently studying at Haldia Institute of Technology, I can answer your question about anything that concerns Haldia in particular. He is presently in his 4th-year, but he is quite well-versed with the other institutes present at MAKAUT.

Haldia is far better than MSIT because of the placement factor, especially for ECE, CSE, IT, Chemical Engineering branches.
If we compare the infrastructure of both the campuses, then the campus of Haldia is far better than MSIT. Haldia also includes a great library and labs that are well-equipped with the latest technology suitable for every branch.
The faculties of Haldia are above average and nothing exceptionally well.
Haldia's location is also not very convenient and it can become one of its demerits. But MSIT, on the other hand, has a great location that connects most of the cities, by transportation means.

So, the crux of my answer would be that if you want to focus entirely on your studies, then Haldia should be your pick.
