One of my cousins shared his experience about the hostels at BIMM, Pune. He said it is a constituent institute of Sri Balaji University, Pune (SBUP). Thus, BIMM is one out of the four institutions housed by SBUP.

Talking about the hostels, he explained that they are really good.

  • For all the four colleges there are separate floors available. Every room is spacious. There are cleaning timing and facilities.
  • A gym, swimming pool, and playing area are also available at the hostel.
  • Facilities such as drinking water coolers, lockable steel almirah, and in-room furniture are provided.
  • The hostel also provides laundry services.
  • Mess is just outside the hostel.
  • The hostel timings are very strict.
  • There is a biometric attendance done every day for all those staying at the hostel.
  • A doctor is also available at the hostel for providing basic first-aid and treating minor illnesses.

The only drawback is that there is a fewer number of rooms available and hence rooms are provided on the “first come-first serve” basis.

My sister was a student at SBS-BIMHRD and her experience was quite surprising for her as well as our family. Before diving into the answer, let us first look at some facts.

  • The institute conducts a 2 months induction period in which you will have to report at 8 am and it continues till 9 pm.
  • In this period, there were more than 160 guest lectures conducted. This made her very disciplined.
  • The vision and motto of discipline, dedication, determination of the institution are not just for the name's sake, they actually preach and practice it.
  • The institution molds you for the corporate culture through surprise tests, academic PowerPoint presentations, and other activities.
  • There are many cultural events such as Drishti, Aiyaswami, etc which add value to your learning.
  • Time management is the biggest learning from the institution. The rigorous sessions which make you work hard make you more self-confident and industry-ready.

Now, let us come back to your question. Placements at BIMM, Pune are centralized and all the four institutions of the SBUP participate in it. The placements are decent.

One of my friends is an alumnus of BIMM Pune. According to her, the institute offers enough opportunities for placement. But getting placed depends a lot on your capabilities.

  • BIMM is known to offer great ROI. BIMM holds a special place among the top-3 colleges in the whole of Pune. And the alumni line does justice to the three Ds that are taught at the institute, which is Discipline, Dedication & Determination.
  • The education imparted here at BIMM Pune does not focus on the exclusive learning process but also ensures that students are taught how any corporate firm runs and what it requires from an individual.
  • Guest lectures and workshops are held by associates from KPMG, Infosys, Google, Deloitte, Wipro, etc.

Here are the latest placement statistics for BIMM.

But you don't have to sweat on the placement factor too much as it keeps fluctuating with the fluctuating economic reforms of the country. If you have the required skill you can definitely bag a decent placement offer.

You should to the senior regarding placements. It is the only way you will get trustworthy data. Don't buy what the founder of BIMM tells you.

  • The reality is that the placement scenario in all four colleges is different from each other. Placements only happen at BIMM, nowhere else.
  • In case you opt for system specialization, at maximum, you would witness a total number of 6 companies visit the campus for placements. And if you want an internship under system specialization, be ready to hear the institute asking you to find one for yourself.
  • Considering other specializations like Operation, HR, Marketing- you would get yourself an internship which would offer you a CTC of 4 lakhs. For system specializations, no companies come for internships.

Some facts to remember-

  • Four colleges fall under Sri Balaji Society (SBS)- BIMM, BIMHRD, BIIB, BITM.
  • The faculty is great.
  • Companies only prefer to visit BIMM for placements, no other branch.
  • Maximum 10 companies visit the campus to offer a package that goes beyond Rs. 8 lakhs and chooses 2 students out of the lot. Considering that, a maximum of 50 students are selected from such companies.
  • Give SBS institutes a shot if you feel you would never make it to institutes like XIMB, GIM, XIME, LIBA.

My friend, who works with the placement coordinator team has confirmed the fact that you would get a package that offers a maximum package of Rs. 4 lakhs if you haven't been a part of BIMM or the placement coordination team.

You should think twice and decide.

I have a few friends at BIMM so, I can give you an idea about their placements. It only becomes relevant when you have actually worked hard for 2 years. Your performance determines it all. You need to consistent with your academics, many students fail to do so, as a result of the sudden freedom that they get.

However, colleges like PUMBA, BIMM (and the rest of the SBS franchise), Simby are great choices when it comes to providing excellent placement opportunities. A maximum number of 300 companies (and more) visit SIMBY and SBS for placements by the end of your 2 academic years. I have friends studying at both institutes and we at times converse on the placement scene. And I can assure you that the placements are quite decent.

Here’s a brief highlight of the recent placement statistics for BIMM.

If you're academically excellent, do not worry as you would have a job by the time you reach your 3rd semester. Do some thorough research before deciding anything.

You should go for BIMM without thinking twice. I will give you good reasons for that.

  • SBS Finance is meant for people who exclusively want to opt for Finance as a career choice and if we talk about SBS Finance, nothing matches it!
  • In case you want to go for HR, there would be two great options as well- BIMHRD-HR and BIMM-HR. You should opt for BIMM as all the great and reputed companies prefer to visit this particular institute among the rest.

But that does not mean BIMHRD is not the right choice. In fact, if there is an institute that is actually as brilliant as BIMM, that without a doubt, is BIMHRD. Considering every crucial aspect that is taken into consideration, be it placements, infrastructure, faculty- everything is covered under BIMHRD.

Overall, studying at Sri Balaji Society will be a rollercoaster ride for you.

BIMM is a very good college as it is ranked higher than its sister colleges (BIMHRD, BITM, and BIIB) and has better academics and placements than them. Whether it will be worth joining or not depends on your expectations. Here are some of the things that BIMM offers.

Rules and regulations:

  • You have to maintain a minimum of 90% attendance or else you won't be able to sit for campus placements. There's attendance before every lecture and you have to be disciplined with it too.
  • You have to enter the college by 8:30 AM sharp and there is also 365 days working culture.
  • You need also to be very disciplined and be dedicated to your academics.

Hostel:

  • The hostel facilities are pretty good but have some strict rules too. At 6:30 AM, Gayatri mantra starts playing in each hostel speaker, and attending the breakfast is compulsory.
  • They force you to attend your classes by cutting off the electricity from 10 AM to 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM to 4 PM.
  • You will also have to enter the hostel by 9 PM after which you will not be permitted to enter the hostel.

Infrastructure and other Facilities:

  • The infrastructure of this college is nice, which has a swimming pool, a gym, an auditorium where 1000 students can sit at a time and has 2 canteens which serve quality and hygienic food.
  • You will get a summer internship offer where you have to do college branding. It will be a good experience.
  • There’s an annual cultural festival called ‘Dristi’.

Hence, BIMM is a very good college to study with good facilities and academics, but also has some very strict rules which need to be followed by everyone.

IBS Hyderabad and BIMM Pune are both well-respected institutions in India that offer different strengths and focus. IBS Hyderabad is affiliated with the University of Hyderabad and offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in management. It has a strong faculty and excellent infrastructure. BIMM Pune, on the other hand, is part of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University (BVDU) and is known for its focus on management education. It provides students with a solid foundation in business management and practical skills.

When considering which college is better for you, it is important to consider factors such as location, cost, program offerings, available resources, and the reputation of the college. Based on your academic and career goals, as well as personal preferences, you will be able to make an informed decision on which college is best for you.

BIMM, Pune is the best choice among all these colleges.

BIMM Pune:

The college focuses not only on making your corporate world ready but also on imparting lifetime know-how on how to survive and have a progressive corporate life along with a disciplined personal life. A strong, competitive environment is maintained in the college by Dr. Balasubramanium, who is himself an ex-army officer.

The academic curriculum of the college is excellent and pressure-packed. In the duration of two years, there is not a single holiday given to the students.

The total number of seats in the college is approx. 900. So, if you have good academic records and good communication skills, you will learn a lot under army discipline and apparently, get placed with a good package. But, if you are average, ISB & M, Pune will be a better college for you.

ISB&M:

The methodology of management education is different at ISB & M, Pune. Ex- Placement Director of XLRI, Jamshedpur, and former Director of SIBM, Pune, Dr. Promod Kumar is the Chairman of ISB & M, Pune. He has a thorough knowledge of how the corporate world works. A pseudo corporate environment is created in the college campus and everything is taught about the practical corporate culture, from survival to growth along with certain other factors. This technique can be called applied corporate culture.

ISB & M, Pune’s applied corporate culture is great but not meant for everybody. The second position would be apt for the academics of this college. The student intake is only 300.

If you are someone who is preparing for MAT, I would suggest you only prepare for these two colleges of Pune because the methods of teaching at these institutions is at par with the demand of the corporate culture, and also, these institutions keep a scope of adapting to changes as time and again.
