Technological Institute of Textile and Sciences was established during the Second World War in 1943 under the aegis of the Birla Education Trust. From its establishment, the institute is duly approved by UGC, recognised by AICTE, Directorate of Technical Education, Haryana.
Presently, the Institute for all its Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs is affiliated to Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. TITS is also an approved centre for PhD degree in Engineering & Technology of the affiliating University.
