Sri Muthukumaran Institute of Technology (SMIT) is an Engineering and management institute located in the city of Chennai. It is affiliated to Anna University and approved by AICTE and NBA.

SMIT Chennai offers engineering courses at the undergraduate level. At postgraduate level, the institute offers degree courses of MCA, MBA and M.E. It also offers Ph.D. in Engineering.

Admissions to B.E are done on the basis of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling and merit score of the qualifying examination.
M.E, MCA and MBA admissions are conducted through TANCET scores and graduation marks.
Ph.D. degree is granted as per the rules and procedures laid down by Anna University.
The basic eligibility criteria for B.E is 10+2 in PCM and in the case of postgraduate courses, the candidates must have a graduation degree in the relevant stream.
50% Scholarships are offered to students scoring 190 and above the cutoff in the form of tuition fee waiver.

SMIT Chennai B.E/B.Tech Admission 2023

SMIT offers admission into four-year degree course of B.E in 8 specializations and B.Tech under 3 specializations. B.E aspirants must have passed Class 12^th examination with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. Candidates who have passed Class 12^th examination Vocational Stream (Vocational groups in Engineering / Technology) as prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu are also eligible for TNEA counselling.

Admissions to B.E are conducted on the basis of merit of Class 12^th and TNEA counselling. TNEA is a non-entrance based counselling conducted by Anna University. Candidates seeking admissions must register for TNEA counselling and follow the procedures thereby.

Candidates seeking admissions in B.E through TNEA can apply online for admissions.
Application forms for TNEA counselling are available in online mode only.
The eligibility criteria such as marks, the number of attempts and the mode of admission are prescribed by the Syndicate of the University.
Candidates should have completed 21 years of age as on first of July. For SC/ST candidates, the age limit is relaxed by 3 years.

SMIT Chennai M.E, MCA & MBA Admission 2023

The institute offers postgraduate degrees of M.E in 6 specializations, MCA and an MBA program.

Candidates applying for M.E should have passed Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the relevant stream with Mathematics at 10+2 level and secured minimum 50% (45% for reserved category). They must have valid GATE score. MBA aspirants must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with minimum 50% (45% for reserved category).

Candidates seeking admissions into any PG course must have a valid TANCET score and should register for counselling conducted by Anna University. Admissions will be based on the ranks obtained by candidates in the entrance exam.

TANCET is conducted by Anna University for admission into various postgraduate courses offered in engineering and management colleges of Tamil Nadu.

SMIT Chennai Ph.D. Admission 2023

The college grants Ph.D. degree in 2 specializations of Engineering. Admissions are conducted as per the rules and procedures of Anna University. The minimum eligibility is a Master’s degree in the relevant branch of Engineering.

Selection to the research program is based on the performance in the written test and interview conducted by competent authority.

SMIT Chennai Application Process 2023

The application process for TNEA counselling will begin on June 27^th, 2020 onwards. The candidates are required to pay counselling fee in offline mode through demand draft or in cash before allotment of seats. The cost of counselling fee is INR 5000 for general candidates and INR 1000 for SC/SCA/ST candidates.

The application process for TANCET is carried out in online mode and candidates are required to register their details. General candidates had to pay INR 500 (INR 250 for SC/SCA/ST candidates). The payment can be made via credit card/debit card/net banking.
