Sri Belimatha Mahasamsthana Institute of Technology (SBMIT), Bangalore was established in 1997 under the Sri Belimatha Maha Samsthana Socio Cultural and Education Trust. The Belimatha Trust was established in 1975 by Sree Sree Charamurthy Shivarudra Mahaswamiji. It aims to provide apt education facilities for the rural people of Nelamangala.

- Institute is approved by AICTE, New Delhi
- In the beginning, Institute was affiliated to the Bangalore University, but now it is affiliated to Visveswaraiah Technology University (VTU)
