Age Limit: 17 years as on December 31, 2016 for B. Tech & 25 years for Lateral Entry
Educational Qualification:
Pass in Pre-Degree Examination from any of the Universities of Kerala State, or examinations recognized equivalent with 50% marks in Mathematics/Biology and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistryand Mathematics put together. Higher Secondary and Vocational Higher Secondary Examinations of Kerala have been recognized as equivalent to the Pre-Degree Examination.
In case of NRI students who are selected on the basis of marks in the qualifying examination, 50% marks in mathematics alone and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together are required. For Diploma holders 60% marks in the final diploma Examination is required.
For all streams, students belonging to SEBC with a total annual family income up to Rs.4.5 lakhs will be provided with relaxation of 5% marks i.e. 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together.
SC/ST students require only a pass in qualifying examination.
Students, who have passed their qualifying examination from outside the State of Kerala, shall produce a certificate of recognition and equivalency of qualification at the time of the time of admission.
Those who pass the qualifying examination in compartmental/supplementary examination are not eligible for admission in the same year.
For Lateral Entry, students shall have passed Diploma in Engineering awarded by the State Board of Technical Education or equivalent after undergoing an institutional course of at least 3 years and must have minimum of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST) in Diploma.
Lateral Entry will be permitted only to the branch of Engineering in which they have obtained the Diploma or corresponding branches.
Note: All decisions regarding admission will be governed by the Commissioner for Entrance examinations, Govt. of Kerala.
Admission Guidelines
Admission to all courses will be through Common Entrance Test following by merit list. All seats available in University of Calicut have been filled strictly on merit basis whether it is for Government, Aided, Un-Aided (Self – Financing) colleges.
Procedure of indexing of Merit list:
Marks obtained in 10+2 will be considered for merit list preparation. Deciding factors of merit list:
If a student has scored more marks in 10+2 then he/she can easily satisfied the criteria of minimum marks required. Extra marks scored by him will work as bonus points for him/her.
15 marks will have been added in the total marks in case of children & widows of Ex-serviceman & Jawans.
15 marks will be awarded to those students who have been working in Illiteracy Education Programmes on volunteer basis from at least one year.
15 marks will be awarded to NCC & NSS cadets on priority basis, for e.g. priority will be given to A,B,C certificate holders.
10 point bonus will be given to forst rank holder in Kerala state Higher secondary or Vocational Higher Secondary Art Festivals.
Note: 10 point will be deducted for every successive attempt to clear the qualifying exam up to maximum of 25 marks ( for those students who would not be able to pass 10+2 exam in first attempt).
Seat Allotment:
Seats will be allotted by following three allotment processes for Government & Aided colleges & two processes for Un-aided colleges with respect to availability of vacancies.
First Allotment:
After trial allotment, seat matrix on the basis of rank & priority order will be published, & all options below the published ranks will be automatically get cancelled. Students whose seat will be confirmed after first allotment have to pay the fee of INR 425 for General (100 for SC/ST).
If a student is satisfied with the allotted seat then he/she can cancelled the remaining options.
Students whose seat has been confirmed, has to report to the respective college along with original & photocopies of the documents.

Income/nativity/community certificate, if applicable
Confirmation of admission will be performed by respective college after cross checking of documents & information provided at the time form filling by the student. Information regarding admission should be conveyed to University of Calicut by the college.

Seats under Management quota (Applicable for Aided/Unaided & unaided courses)
Sports quota
Lakshdweep quota/ students of Kashmir (for affiliated colleges)
PWD & mentally retarded students
Note: Admission to the new colleges & new courses will be made through traditional manner for those students only who have registered themselves for CAP. Trial allotments will be conducted to provide the clear picture regarding the exact allotment process.
Seats available under CAP:
Seats available in Government colleges excluding the seats reserved for students belongs to Union Territory of Lakshadweep, Tamil Linguistic Minority, Sports quota, Person with Disability & Mentally retarded students from Kashmir.
Seats available in Aided colleges for students belong to open quota, SC & ST.
Total 59% Seats are available in Un-Aided & for aided courses in Self- Financing colleges including the seats reserved for SC/ST/SEBC.
Total 59% Seats are available in IHRD self-financing colleges subject to reservation as per Government rules.
Note: To claim reservation under any category students must register for CAP through Calicut University.
