Admissions to B.Tech program at SMSMPITR are done on the basis of candidate’s rank in JEE Main. Candidates with a valid JEE Mains rank will be allotted the seats through the counseling conducted by Maharashtra Engineering Centralized Admission Process (CAP).

• Out of the total seats, 80% seats are reserved for admissions through CAP
• 30% of these total seats will be filled by the Female candidates.
• There shall be no reservation for female candidates falling under the Defense, SBC and Person with disabilities categories

For admission to direct B.Tech (Lateral Entry), candidate must have an Indian nationality and should have passed Diploma in Engineering or Technology with at least 45% aggregate marks.

If the candidate has passed B.Sc degree from UGC recognized institution with at least 45% marks and passed 12^th standard examination with Mathematics as the subject and with English as medium of instruction at B.Sc level, such candidates are also eligible to apply for direct admission to second year.

• 20% seats are reserved as institute level seats including the ones which will remain vacant after CAP round and due to cancellation of admissions
• The seats will be filled by preparing the common merit list for all the candidates who have applied for vacancy round.

Admissions to 2-year Diploma program at the institute will be made through the counseling conducted at university level by Maharashtra Engineering Centralized Admission Process (CAP). As per the provisions of the State government, 30% seats will be reserved for the female candidates.

For admission to direct second year of Diploma, candidate should be Indian National domiciled in Maharashtra and must have passed HSC Science or HSC (Bifocal/ Technical) or HSC (Vocational/ MCVC) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Education or SSC with 2 years duration ITI/ ITI COE with appropriate specialization.
