At Undergraduate level PKIET offers B.Tech. course in three specializations. The institute also offers admission in the second year through lateral entry. Candidates applying for admission to B.tech program must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 45% marks (each) in Mathematics, Physics and any one of the Chemistry/ Bio-Technology/ Computer Science/ Biology (Botany & Zoology).

Admission to the B.Tech. is done on the basis of Joint Entrance Test (JET ) conducted by the Centralized Admission Committee (CENTAC). For final selection marks of qualifying examination (marks of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry) and JET are considered in the ratio 1:1.

Admission through lateral entry is given to candidates who are residents of Puducherry. Candidates applying for Lateral entry must have passed Diploma in Engineering with at least 60% marks.

Selection of candidates through lateral entry is also on the basis of an entrance exam conducted by the institute.

Key Points:

85% will be allotted to the candidates from the Union Territory of Puducherry and the remaining 15% will be allotted to the candidates from the other States and U.Ts. in India.
Percentage criteria in the qualifying examination are relaxed by 5% for SC/ST students.
Candidates should be above 17 years but should not have completed 21 years of age by July 01. For SC/ST candidates, the upper age limit is relaxed by 3 years.
JET is a Computer Based Test (CBT). JET entrance test consists of two papers of two hours duration each; Paper I is of Mathematics and Paper II is of Physics and Chemistry.
Paper I has 60 Multiple Choice Questions and Paper II has 80 MCQs. Each exam is of two hours duration.

The application process to appear for JET and subsequent counselling is online. However, applications submitted online shall be considered, only after receiving the print-out of the online form with necessary self-attested copies of certificates and application fee as online payment receipt.

To apply online candidate has to visit CENTAC official website.
Upload scanned photograph (size of 20 kb to 25kb) in JPG format only.
For application fee, make payment of INR 600 through any Debit/credit card using online gateway payment facility or Net banking.
The Print out of the online application along with the online payment receipt and photocopy of necessary documents shall be sent by post/ courier or can be submitted in person to:

Candidates declared successful in the JET entrance test have to appear for an online counselling. Dates for the counselling will be sent to successful candidates through SMS, Email, & and updated on the CENTAC website.

For counselling, candidates can log in to the CENTAC website only by paying the admission processing fees through online payment (Credit cards/Debit cards/NEFT).
Candidates must enter their choices for college. After a one-week period, CENTAC will publish the selection list on the website and provisional allotment will be posted on the website.
Candidates should report to the allotted college along with the allotment letter within the specified duration.
Candidates should visit the CENTAC website frequently till the counselling process is over.
