Important Updates for GCELT

GCELET Saltlake BTech admissions are based on WBJEE Score/ JEE Main Score. The application process for WBJEE has commenced on December 28, 2023. The last date for the WBJEE registration 2024 is on January 31, 2024. Candidates can register for the WBJEE 2024 at wbjeeb.nic.in. WBJEE Exam Date 2024 is April 28, 2024.

Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology was established in 1919 under the Government of West Bengal. The college is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology.

The undergraduate course offered is B.Tech in three specializations i.e. Computer Science and engineering, Information Technology and Leather Technology with total intake of 130 students. M.Tech is offered in Leather Technology as a post-graduate program against 25 available seats. The college also offers a certificate program in Shoes and Leather Goods Making.

The minimum eligibility criteria for admission in B.Tech is passed in 10+2 in science stream with at least 45% aggregate marks
The selection for B. Tech will based on the merit in the qualifying and WBJEE examination.
For M.Tech, candidates have to hold a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering disciple and score a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
The selection for M.Tech will be based on merit in qualifying examination.
The candidates seeking admission in the certificate course has to be passed in 10+2 and must appear for the examination conducted by the College

Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology B.Tech Admission 2023

GCELT B. Tech in three specializations. The selection of the candidates is based on the marks obtained in 10+2 and rank in WBJEE. The minimum eligibility criteria to apply for B. Tech is passed in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects and at least 45% aggregate marks and hold a valid rank in WBJEE.

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination is conducted by WBJEE board. It is a common entrance examination conducted for under graduate and post-graduate level courses in various institutes in West Bengal. The process of application is offline. Candidates can obtain the application form from the college.

Key Points:

Candidates belonging to reserved category need 40% as aggregate marks in 10+2
To appear in WBJEE, applicants must be at least 17 years of age as on December 31.
There is no upper age limit to appear for WBJEE. Candidates born on or before January 1, 2000 are not eligible to appear for the entrance examination.
Lateral Entry admission to B.Tech will be based on JELET.

Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology M.Tech Admission 2023

The government college of engineering and leather technology offers M.Tech in Leather Technology. The selection of the candidate is based on the merit in the qualifying examination. Candidates who have passed in bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 55% aggregate marks are eligible to apply for this course. The application process is offline. Candidates have to visit the college campus for admission form.

Application form can be obtained from the admission office in GCELT.
Fill the application form correctly. Attach the following document (two photocopies each) with the application form:
- 10^th & 10+2 mark sheet and passing certificates
- Bachelor’s degree and mark sheet
- WBJEE Admit Card and Score Card
- Migration Certificate
- Character Certificate
- Caste Certificate, if applicable
- Physical Disability certificate, if applicable.
- Six passport sized photographs
Submit the application form along with the admission fees either in Cash at the admission office or by Demand Draft in favor of ‘Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology’, payable at Kolkata.
Application fees is INR 200.
