DAVIET is one of the most prestigious engineering college located in the city of Jalandhar, Punjab. The institute is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is affiliated to Punjab Technical University (PTU). The college offers UG and PG courses in engineering and management. Candidates can choose from courses such as B. Tech, M. Tech, MCA and MBADAVIET Updates

The admissions to B. Tech courses is conducted through JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). Students should apply for the JEE Main examination if they are interested in taking admission into DAVIET.
Candidates for admission to M. Tech are selected through GATE and an interview conducted by PTU (Punjab Technical University) and the college.
Candidates for MCA courses are selected by the college on the basis of merit.
For admission into MBA, candidates will have to qualify the CMAT examination conducted by AICTE or candidates can even apply for admission directly to the college. In the case of direct admission, candidates will be selected based on merit.

DAV Institute Of Engineering And Technology B. Tech Admission 2023

DAVIET offers B. Tech courses in various fields for UG students. Admissions for all the B. Tech courses are done through JEE Main. Interested students should visit the examination website to apply for the exam.

After successfully qualifying the entrance examination, students can visit the college website and apply online for the admission or apply through the JEE counseling rounds.
Students will be selected on the basis of their JEE scores. A merit list will be prepared for the selected candidates by the college.

For admission into any of the M. Tech degree offered by DAVIET, candidates will have to first qualify the GATE entrance examination.
Candidates should first apply for GATE. To do so, candidates can visit the official GATE website.
Candidates will have to pay the application fee of INR 1500 (INR 750 for SC/ST/Women).
After successfully qualifying the entrance examination, candidates can go to the college website and fill in the online application for admission.
From the number of candidates who have applied for admission, candidates will be selected for an interview conducted by the college and PTU, based on their GATE scores.
Only after a successful interview, the candidates will be selected for admission. A list of the selected candidates will be posted on the college website.
Selected candidates will then have to visit the college to submit the required documents and certificates.

Admission Process

MCA:

For admission into MCA, candidates will first have to fill in the application form on the official college website. Candidates can also opt for an offline application directly from the college.
Candidates will have to pay an application fee of INR 300. For online application, candidates will have to pay the application fee using a demand draft when they are submitting the application form.
Candidates will be selected for admission on the basis of merit. The college will prepare a merit list of the selected candidates, which will be posted online on the college website.
Selected candidates will then have to visit the college to submit the required documents and certificates.
All other admission formalities will be completed in the college itself.

MBA:

Admissions to MBA will be conducted through the CMAT examination or candidates can also apply directly to the college.

- First, they will have to fill in the application form for CMAT which will be found on the CMAT website.
- Candidates should visit the official CMAT website for more details.
- After successfully qualifying the CMAT exam, candidates can apply for admission into DAVIET through the counseling rounds of the entrance exam.

One advantage of DAVIET over DAV University is that it has more experienced and better faculty. DAVIET's faculty members have years of teaching and research experience, and many of them have published research papers in reputed journals.
On the other hand, the faculty at DAVU may not be highly qualified. Most of them have completed their M.Tech without decent research publications and are not capable of guiding students in research. The management at DAVU is pathetic. It's important to research the college or university's management and assess whether they are supportive of students and committed to providing a good education.

GNDU should be preferred over DAVIET, as the degree value of GNDU is more valuable than a PTU degree. The study material and exposure provided remain the same in both institutes.

Here are some facts about both these institutes:

During placements, some of them do not even consider a PTU degree.
Attendance in DAVIET is monitored very strictly and if it falls short it will affect your overall performance.
In GNDU teachers are cooperative and compensate for your attendance by giving assignments.
DAVIET is private but GNDU is semi-government. Hence have a better reputation.
DAVIET is much like a school with very strict rules and regulations. GNDU is more lenient.

Which is better for a B. tech, DAVIET Jalandhar or CGC Landran?

Both colleges have a good reputation but which is a better option that depends upon a number of factors. CGC Landran is ranked in 210-250 band by NIRF 2020 whereas DAVIET is ranked 100 by India Today.

Given below is a brief overview of the two colleges.

DAVIET fee structure is lower than CGC Landran. DAVIET has an average annual fee of Rs. 70,000 whereas CGC Landran has an average annual fee of Rs.96,000.

Scholarships:

CGC Landran offers merit scholarships, merit-means scholarships, scholarships for differently-abled students, etc.
DAVIET offers Post Matric Scholarships to eligible candidates from the reserved category as per the Punjab Govt/IKG PTU norm.

Placement:

CGC Landran has better placement (almost 100%) in IT/CSE department as compared to DAVIET Jalandhar and for core streams like Mechanical, Electrical etc both are equally good. On the other hand, DAVIET has a lower placement percentage but has a higher average salary as DAVIET does not allow mass recruiters which offer less than 3 LPA packages.

Every year top companies like Samsung, IBM, Microsoft, Dell etc visit both the campuses.
In terms of placement percentage, CGC Landran has led with 100% placement compared to DAVIET Jalandhar which has 85% placement.
The average package of both the colleges is the same 3.5 LPA.
The highest package of CGC Landran is 35 LPA whereas the highest package of DAVIET Jalandhar is only 10 LPA. As CGC is a group of institutions, it has advantages over the highest package data.

So, the choice of college purely depends on one’s priority. Placement wise CGC Landran has an edge over DAVIET but if you consider fee structure and campus location or exposure then DAVIET is better. DAVIET is located in Jalandhar city and hence has location advantage and better connectivity than CGC Landran. Academically both are equally good colleges and their average placement is similar. DAVIET has comparatively a smaller number of placements but quality placements and CGC has more placements from mass recruiters.
