One of my friends graduated from Midnapore Medical College (MMC). According to him, if you are a dedicated and hard-working student and can manage your studies by yourself, then MMC is a good option.
The faculty members are highly experienced but will only provide you with the required guidance. It will be beneficial if you study and prepare by yourself.
Internships will make your schedule hectic. You definitely gather a good amount of experience during the internship, so no matter how hectic it makes your day-to-day life, try completing it.
Overall Midnapore Medical College is worthy. Many students from popular colleges like JIPMER and AIIMS are known to study here.
One of my friends studied at Midnapore Medical College (MMC). According to him, every college has its pros and cons, similarly, MMC also has its pros and cons.
Pros:
Cons:
It is a government college in West Bengal. Many students have claimed that medical colleges in West Bengal provide good exposure and academics. So, if you can bear with the flaws, it is a good college overall.
Between Midnapore and JNM Kalyani, it is better if you go for JNM. This is because Midnapore is much farther from the city. The weather here is also harsh, The hostel and mess facilities are poor and not properly maintained. The Infrastructure is also average when compared to JNM. In the monsoons due to flooding, communications are lost.
In JNM both the faculty and infrastructure are better and well equipped as compared to Midnapore. All the necessary facilities are provided for the students. Also, Kalyani is directly under the WBUHS hostel. Kalyani as a city is welcoming and easy to adjust to. It is also closer to Kolkata. Communications and transportation here are better.
Therefore you can see the benefits of studying in Kalyani will be better than in Midnapore, hence it is suggested you opt for JNM Kalyani.
Midnapore Medical College (MMC) is a comparatively newer institution. The first MBBS admission was in 2004. Now it has genuinely developed and has maintained a good standard.
Studying here is extremely worthy as your own efforts and clear conception will matter more and for NEET PG only 20% of the total students are able to clear it.
Studying MBBS means you must forget all your past achievements and start afresh. People usually think there are certain colleges, graduating from which will be valuable in India. But keep in mind that your main focus should be on reading and gathering up knowledge.
You should focus more on self-studying than relying completely on your teachers. MBBS requires reading and re-reading. College is not a primary concern as long as you read your standard textbooks.
Government colleges have a great patient load but poor teaching faculty. Private colleges have less patient load, but better infrastructure and teaching. Finally, everything depends on your passion, interest, caliber, and skill that you acquire over years of practice.
Not all students of AIIMS or JIPMER become the best physicians. Choose a college based on your requirements and not just for your brand name.
According to recent guidelines by the MCI, the first years now have the 3rd floor of the girls’ hostel all to themselves.
The hostel overall is decent by the government hostel standards. There are cats everywhere though. Food could be a major problem, especially for vegetarian students, but they are trying to come up with newer options. The common room is huge, which is also the common dining hall.
The rooms are not big enough for 3 people, yet they have to share them. Each room has 3 beds which take up the spaces for proper bookshelves and a table-chair. The corridors do not have dustbins and thus the corridor gets frequently littered.
It will take some time to get adjusted to it, but overall it is a nice place to be in.
