LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) is known for providing quality eye health facilities to its patients. It was established in the year 1987 and is located in Hyderabad, Telangana. It is the first major eye institute in India to receive accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare providers (NABH).
It provides various courses like B.Sc. Optometry, Post Graduate Diploma in Optometry and Vision Sciences (PGDOVS) and Diploma in Eye Health Management (DEHM). The minimum eligibility for B.Sc. Optometry is 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics/ Biology with proficiency in English.
4.1 How to Apply?
Selection is based on a written test and interview round. For PGDOVS, the minimum eligibility is Bachelor of Optometry degree. Those who obtain merit in the written test conducted by LVPEI shall be selected. For DEHM, graduates of any discipline shall be eligible.
The college provides training and career guidance services to help the students develop their personalities. The students can get placed in the eye hospitals at the institute itself. The college also provides internship opportunities to the students for better exposure.

Ample placement opportunities are available for those trainees who successfully complete the DEHM Course. Some students may get recruited as Junior Administrators and posted at either a secondary centre or a tertiary centre.

LV Prasad Eye Institute provides world- class infrastructure to meet every student’s need. Following are some of the facilities provided at LVPEI:
Classroom- The classrooms are well- equipped with computer projectors and air conditioners. Proper Wi- Fi services are provided. Regular web conferences are held. Lectures are provided in offline as well as online mode. To enable faculty and students to interact in real- time, attend lectures and hold discussions, videoconferencing facilities are also provided. LVPEI is linked to many international institutes through this facility.
Accommodation- Shared accommodation is provided to full- time students and those with special needs are given assistance in their search for accommodation close to the campus. Indian vegetarian food is served at subsidized rates at the campus cafeteria.
Library- Students are provided an additional shared library with the Brien Holden Institute of Optometry & Vision Sciences.
International Expertise- LVPEI provides a training ground for all cadres of eye care workers which range from ophthalmologists and optometrists to all paramedical and administrative cadres and community eye health personnel in the eye care service delivery chain. It uses the most advanced medical and surgical techniques in all subspecialties of eye care. Participants come from across the world making it a largely interactive learning platform.

Field Visits- Field visits are organized to observe different community eye health programs and projects.
Stipend- DEHM program full time sponsored students are paid a nominal stipend per month. Also, sponsored students are paid a stipend of INR 6000.
LV Prasad Eye Institute has a well experienced and well qualified faculty. Dr. Sayan Basu is the director of research at LVPEI. Moreover, there are 16 research scientists working excellently in the industry. Dr. Srinivas Marmamula is the associate director.
Prof D Balasubramanian is the Distinguished Scientist & Director of Research Emeritus. For basic research Dr Subhabrata Chakrabarti is the Research Scientist Grade Associate Director.
