The Wilson College, Mumbai established in 1832 under the affiliation of Mumbai University has been recognized for its popular UG courses such as BA, B.Sc and B.Com. Apart from the aided courses, the college also offers some unaided courses such as Bachelor's in Mass Media and Communication, Management Studies, Information and Technology, and B.Com. in Accounts and Finance. Ans. Yes. It is considered the best of 5 from 12th. 50% of the seats are reserved for Chrisitan Students. The others are given admission based on merit.

Ques. Do I need to take the MH-CET if I want to do a Bsc. in biotechnology in Wilson College or Elphinstone College (Mumbai)?

Ans. There is no such condition in either college. MH-CET is not required for admission but the condition is that you must pass 10+2 with biology for B.Sc in biotechnology.

Remarks:

The admission process was similar to most other colleges. We had to first fill out the main university form and apply for 5 colleges then individually fill out each college form. All the forms and information regarding the fees and process was available online on the college websites.

For KC College, the cutoff is 93.17. The National College requires a cutoff of 82.17%. Sophia College has a cutoff of 90.8 for BMM. The required cutoff for Mithibai College for BMM is 94.2. For Wilson College, the required cutoff is 87.33%. For Jaihind College the required cutoff is 87.80. The required cutoff varies every year.

For pursuing a BAF degree, K.P.B Hinduja College will be better. Most of the afculties are helpful and cooperative. It also organizes many industrial visits. You will get the required exposure. Wilson College on the other hand doesn’t offer a BAF degree. It is well known for its BMS degree.

A few of my friends attended Wilson College for their BMS. According to them, it is a decent option for pursuing this course. The faculties are decent for the BMS department. The HOD of the department is Dr. Zuleika Homavazir. Who is well-known for her strict nature. But according to my friends, at the end of the course, the rules and her strict guidance pays off well.

Some of my friends attended Wilson College. According to them, here are some of the reasons to choose this college. The beach is right opposite the campus. It is the best place to hangout with friends or go on a walk. At least once in a semester, the teachers take a class out at the beach. It is a heritage building and is known for its stunning architecture. The classrooms are learge and well-ventilated. There is a gymkhana where you can play cricket and football. Sports day also takes place there. There is a two level auditorium. The festivals takes place there. The institute has a great library with decent collection. The college has a nature club which takes students out for trek often. The student crowd is diverse. You will get to meet people from all over the country.

No, having Maths as a subject combination is not a necessary criteria to pursue BMS at Wilson College, Mumbai. I know students from non-mathematical backgrounds who are pursuing their BMS from Wilson. There are even students from Arts background. So, it doesn’t matter, if you don’t have a Mathematics background. But you should note that the BMS course includes Business Maths.

No, colleges like Wilson or Elphinstone don’t require you to take MH-CET for admission into B.Sc. courses. MH-CET is required for admission into specialized courses like Engineering, Medical, or Pharmacy. In order to be eligible for B.Sc. Biotechnology, you need to have Biology in your 10+2. You also need a good percentile in your qualifying examination.
