Vidyasagar College was established in 1872 and it is an affiliated college of Calcutta University. Vidyasagar College offers admission to 41 UG and 2 PG courses. Higher Secondary Examination qualified candidates will be eligible for admission in UG courses. A Bachelor's degree holder in relevant subjects will be eligible for admission to the PG course.

Admission to UG courses will be based on the marks secured in the qualifying examination.
Selection to the M.Sc in Zoology and Geography will be either based on the marks secured in the qualifying examination or marks secured in the entrance examination.

Vidyasagar College invites application for admission to UG courses under various specializations in Arts and Science. Higher Secondary Examination qualified candidates will be eligible for admission. Selection will be based on the marks secured in the qualifying examination.

Vidyasagar College Kolkata Postgraduate Admission 2023

Vidyasagar College offers admission to the 2 post-graduation courses. Admission will be either based on the marks secured in the qualifying examination or marks secured in the entrance examination. 60% of the total intake will be merit-based and the rest 40% intakes will be according to the performance in the entrance examination.

Vidyasagar College allows admission in the PG courses through the following two procedures:

60% of the total seats will be filled on the merit score of the candidates obtained in BA/B.Sc. courses. This is applicable only for the candidates of Calcutta University.
40% of the total seats will be filled by taking an admission test. The test is conducted by the college itself. This is applicable to the candidates of other universities outside of Calcutta University.

FEES: Feasible. It is the bare minimum. Approximately, INR 10,000 per annum for Physics. It varies with different courses. Everything is affordable enough for people of all backgrounds. Lab facilities & Seminars are also provided.

Which is better, Bethune College or Vidyasagar College?

I know people from both Bethune College and Vidyasagar College. According to what I heard from them, I will say the former is better.

Bethune is an all-girls college and it is quite strict. If you want good academics with regular classes then Bethune is the right choice.
Vidyasagar has union problems too. At Bethune, you won’t have to face such problems as party politics doesn’t exist here.
The faculties and the ambiance of Bethune are great.
The facilities offered at the college are good. Both the central and departmental libraries have a good collection of books.
There are many extracurricular activities for you to participate in.

These reasons make Bethune a better option for pursuing your course.

Which college under CU is better for zoology hons, Ashutosh or Vidyasagar?

Both Ashutosh College and Vidyasagar College are reputed colleges under CU. Both have their own advantages. If you are only looking for quality education then choosing Vidyasagar College will be better for you. The only disadvantage here is the administration and they are not cooperative.

On the other hand, Ashutosh will offer you better infrastructure. Academics at Aduthose are also decent. Both colleges will offer similar facilities.

So, you can choose either of these two colleges according to your convenience.
