Maulana Azad College was established in 1926 in Kolkata, West Bengal. The college is affiliated to University of Calcutta, Kolkata. The college offers several UG and PG courses under different disciplines of specializations viz. BA, B.Sc. (Hons. and General), MA Urdu and English and M.Sc. Zoology.

Maulana Azad College conducts online application process for all its course.
For UG General programs, the candidates must have passed 10+2/ HS in relevant streams with 40% marks in aggregate.
Admission in UG Hons. courses require candidates to have secured an aggregate of 50% marks in Arts stream and 60% marks in Science stream in 10+2 with relevant subjects.
Selection in UG programs is based on merit of the qualifying examination.
Admission in MA Urdu and English requires candidates to possess a graduate degree in Hons. in English/ Urdu from any recognised University/ Institution.
For M.Sc. Zoology, candidates must have obtained a bachelor’s degree in science stream in Honours with 55% marks from University of Calcutta and 60% marks for other universities.

Maulana Azad College offers several courses under UG Programs viz. 11 courses in BA (Hons.), 8 courses in B.Sc. (Hons.), BA (General) and B.Sc. (General). The basic eligibility criterion to take admission in any of these courses is to have passed 10+2/ Higher Secondary from any recognised Board while securing some minimum marks in the subject of Honors.

Candidates are selected on the basis of the merit of the qualifying examination. The admission committee prepares a cut-off list to select the deserving candidates for these courses.

Key Points:

The calculation of merit point does not consider the marks of Environmental Science.
The candidates belonging to SC/ ST categories must have an aggregate of 40% marks with 40% marks in the subject of choice to apply for admission.

Maulana Azad College M.Sc, MA Admission 2023

Maulana Azad College offers MA in Urdu and English along with M.Sc. Zoology. The basic criterion to take admission in M.Sc is to pass B.Sc. (Hons.) Zoology or allied subject with 55% marks. For MA candidate should possess a graduate degree in relevant subject from any recognised University with 45% marks.

Of the total seats, 60% seats are filled on the basis of the merit of qualifying examination while 40% of the seats are filled on the basis of the merit scored in the admission test conducted by the college.

Key Points:

Candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC/ PwD categories and belonging to WB are given a relaxation of up to 10% in the aggregate score of the qualifying exam.
The admission test is of one hour and consists of 50 multiple choice questions with 2 marks each. For every incorrect answer, 1 mark is deducted.

Maulana Azad College, Kolkata Application Process 2023

The application process conducted by the college is strictly online. Therefore, candidates looking to take admission in any of the UG and PG Programmes must register online with the official website of the college. To apply for admission in the college, candidates must follow the below mentioned steps –

Visit the official website of the college and click on ‘Apply Online’.
Fill the online application form carefully. (A separate application for multiple Honours courses).
Submit the completely filled application form online by paying INR 110 (for UG Programmes), INR 160 (for M.Sc.) and INR 125 (for MA) either online or download a challan to pay the required amount at any branch of Indian Bank.
On the basis of the submitted online application, merit list is prepared.
