ISI is an Institution that is controlled by a single governing body but has different centers, unlike IITs which are governed by independent bodies.
This means, no matter if you study from any branch of ISI like Bangalore, Delhi, or Chennai, you will be awarded a degree from ISI Kolkata only because that’s the headquarters.
Therefore it makes no difference between the curriculum and value of both ISI Kolkata and Bangalore. The only difference between the institutes lies in the course that they offer. ISI Bangalore offers Bachelor’s course in Mathematics whereas, ISI Kolkata offers Bachelor's course in Statistics.
So, the choice of institute totally depends on whether you are interested in statistics or mathematics.
One of my cousins is a recent alumnus of ISI Kolkata and mentions that there have never been any complaints regarding ragging.
Most essentially, there is a legitimate reason behind these institutions being different from many others. That being said, ISI, CMI, IISC, IMSC, TIFR, and HRI are mostly different from every institute because they are primarily research-oriented. The list also incorporates IIT, NIT, BITS, IISER, NISER. These institutions are completely free of the Students Unions Ragging, students clubs, and more.
Having to know some people studying at both Simsree and KJ Somaiya and here are some things that you should know. They both are equally good.
Irrespective of where you go, your responsibility is to get better, participate in competitions, do certifications, and improve yourself holistically. The institute cannot impose anything if you have no intention of doing it.
Whether you should opt for MnC at IIT Delhi or B.Math at ISI Bangalore depends on what you want from your graduation and your career prospects.
Academically both institutes are excellent and none is better than the other. So my answer entails the drastic difference in the curriculum and scope of the two programs.
Bachelor of Mathematics, ISI Bengaluru
This program has high-tech mathematical stuff and purely focuses on Mathematics. The Institute is smaller than IIT Delhi and ideal for those who have a single passion in life, Maths. The coursework consists of abstract algebra, analysis, probability theory, and so on. Additionally, it has compulsory courses in Statistics, Probability, and Physics as well. Although it offers some CS courses also, the program does not focus on Computer Science much.
Math and Computing (MnC), IIT Delhi
The curriculum of the MnC program is more inclined toward computer science than Mathematics. The program focuses more on applied mathematics, rather than pure mathematics. As a result, graduates from this course can start jobs earlier than those from ISI.
In a nutshell, if you are willing to go for higher education and research in mathematics, then ISI should be your goal. If you are a person interested in the practical application of concepts and want to eventually be employed in a company, then IIT Delhi is the best place for you.
Both the certification courses PMP and SSGB fall under the Operations domain yet are very different in reality.
PMP: This course facilitates handling and delivering projects efficiently and quickly. If you are interested in Project Management, the best option is the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification which is affiliated with Project Management Institute, PMI, USA. It
also provides PDUs.
SSBM: This course facilitates proper optimization of business processes, minimizing waste and time wastage. If you are interested in the Six Sigma Green Belt (SSGB), then Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) Kolkata is the best option available. Some even think ISI Pune is good yet I will recommend you to go for Kolkata itself.
