Charuchandra College, established in 1947, is a premier institute located in Kolkata. It is affiliated to University of Calcutta and offers undergraduate courses in Liberal Arts. The courses offered by Charuchandra College include B.Sc., BA. and B.Com.

All the courses are for the duration of 3 years and are offered in Honors and General schemes. B.Sc. and B.A. (General) courses have a total intake of 256 students while the B.Com.(General and Honors) courses have an intake of 150 students.

Admissions to all the courses are done through online mode only while keeping the guidelines of University of Calcutta in mind.
For the Honors courses, in addition to the minimum eligibility criteria, candidates should have obtained 50% marks in aggregate and 45% marks in their respective Honors subject (40% for SC/ST candidates).
Candidates who have not studied their Honors subject in their previous examination, need to secure minimum aggregate marks of 55% in a related subject or 50% marks in aggregate provided all other clauses are satisfied.
Admission to B.Sc. courses is done for candidates who have Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects in 10+2 along with Chemistry/Biology/Economics as an optional subject.
Candidates applying to the B.Com. courses should have secured 50% marks in aggregate along with 45% marks in any subject like Economics, Statistics, Accounts etc. in 10+2.
For the B.Sc. (General) course, candidates should have secured 30% aggregate marks along with 30% marks in Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry/Biology/Bio-Technology.
Admission to all the courses is done on the basis of merit of marks secured in 10+2 or any equivalent examination.

Candidates applying to the Honors courses of B.A., B.Sc. and B.Com. should have passed 10+2 or any equivalent examination from a recognized board with English as a compulsory subject. A candidate also must have obtained 50% marks in aggregate and 45% marks in the concerned Honors subject (40% for SC/ST candidates).
Candidates who have not studied their Honors subject in their previous examination, need to secure minimum aggregate marks of 55% in a related subject or 50% marks in aggregate provided all other clauses are satisfied.

Admission to the courses is done on the basis of merit in Class 12^th or any equivalent examination. A series of merit lists are released for all the candidates who apply online through the college’s website. Shortlisted candidates are called for the counselling/certificates verification round according to the merit lists.

Charuchandra College Application Process 2022

Candidates can apply only through online mode. Candidates need to select their choice of subjects and pay the application fees online. Here are the steps to apply:

Visit the official website of the college and create an application account.
Candidates need to fill in the application form with their details, upload documents and choose their subjects of interest online.
The application fees of INR 150 (for each subject) can be paid through Credit/Debit card or Net banking option.

Those students who have studied under west Bengal council of H.S. Education / C.B.S.E / I.S.C and other recognized boards which are approved by the University of Calcutta are eligible to apply. 80% of the seats will be reserved for students from Calcutta University only. What should I choose among Heritage College, Charuchandra College and AJC Bose college for BSc in Physics?

Being associated with Calcutta University and studying are not the same thing. Calcutta University is associated with 147 colleges. It serves as a governing body for administration and exam administration.

Heritage is merely an autonomous private institution that has recently been connected with Calcutta University. It has superior infrastructure and management to Charuchandra College.

Charuchandra College, on the other hand, has a better faculty and also includes 26 faculty members for the Ph.D. program. However, it does have a long history of being affiliated with CU and has a better notable Alumni base

As for AJC bose college, it has a NAAC rating of C. Even lower. Its grade point is 1.83 whereas among the 3 colleges the highest grading is that of Charuchandra college -2.52.

I would say go for government-aided institutions instead of private institutes. Rest is up to you.
