C. U. Shah Arts College, Ahmedabad was established in 1960 as City Law and Arts College. In 1966, it formed its own identify as City Arts College. It is accredited with 'B' Grade by NAAC. It is managed by Gujarat Law Society - an institute with outstanding contribution to the knowledge sector of Gujarat. C U Shah Arts college one of the thirty-eight educational units of GLS is located close to the Siddi Saiyed mosque a centuries old architectural and cultural monument. Eminent personalities related to Law Industries and Education have made a major contribution to the development of this institute.

Extra Curricular Activities

  • NSS - The institute has a full fledged NSS unit. It has an annual budget of 45,000/- sanctioned by the affiliating University. The major activity of NSS is 07 day annual camp.
  • NCC - The interested students are encouraged to enroll and take part in the parade – training provided by the NCC Head Quarters of the city.  This year one of the student was selected for Republic day parade.
  • Kalrav - is a community programme initiated by the institute to orient the students towards social service.

  • In the Nielson survey conducted by India Today 2009, the college ranked 47th in the list of 50 best Arts colleges of India and 3rd among the Best Arts Colleges in Ahmedabad

  • Principal Dr. Sanjay M Vakil received 'Jewel of India Award' for outstanding achievement and remarkable role in the field of Education in February 2011 by Indian Solidarity council, New Delhi

  • At the Ohtsuka Karate Cup 2013, organised by International Wado Federation, Vadodara, the college students won 2 GOLD medals

  • In the Championship in Battle Of Champions,USA, National Karate Cup, the college students won SILVER medal

  • Youth Festival: The college won 5 prizes at zonal level for western group song,western solo, light vocal solo,spot photography and poetry completion

  • Piyush Rohit, Sem 5 (English) won silver medal in essay competition on 'Indian Culture'
