The sociology program is primarily concerned with phenomena and social behavior. The study of sociology provides intellectual tools for the rigorous and thoughtful analysis of societal problems, situations and events. It promotes a retreat from reality, which allows to keep a critical mind and to release imaginative solutions. Particular emphasis is placed on classical sociological thought, contemporary mainstream and research methods.
