• Chemistry is the study of matter. It examines the composition, structures, properties, reactions, and syntheses of molecules and materials. At its most fundamental level, chemistry involves investigating how atoms are chemically bonded to, or interact with, other atoms. Students will begin their studies by focusing on the broad principles that describe how the matter in the world around students exists and behaves at the molecular level.
  • In second and third years the student will concentrate on the four main sub-disciplines of chemistry, then move on to more specialized courses in students third and fourth years including organic and inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, quantum and spectroscopy, environmental chemistry, bio-organic and bio-inorganic chemistry, and nanotechnology.
