This program offers training in a variety of areas including developmental neurobiology, neural systems, and their disorders, molecular neurobiology, ion channels, cellular pharmacology and neurotoxicology, and the control of movement.
The Faculty in the Hotchkiss Brain Institute, the umbrella for neuroscience research at the Faculty of Medicine, are drawn from all the major disciplines and include both basic and clinical scientists. The close links between the University and the Foothills Hospital provide a unique environment of collaboration between clinicians and basic researchers. This enables the Department of Neuroscience to offer a variety of research programs whose topics range from invertebrate neural systems to electrophysiological studies in man.

Academic Eligibility:

Bachelor's degree (4-years) from a recognized institution or an equivalent degree from the university.
GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 point system, over the past two years of full-time study (10 full-course equivalents or 60 units) of an undergraduate degree.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

Completed a 4-year Bachelor’s degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
Or, completed a 3-year Bachelor's Degree must hold a Master's Degree.
Or, have a CGPA of 8/10 (or 7.5/10 for IITs only).

CV/Resume: Outline of academic achievements and/or awards, publications, relevant work and/or volunteer experience.
Transcript: A PDF copy of all post-secondary transcripts within the application or in Carleton Central.
Two Letter of Reference: Referees (Teachers, guidance counselors, or Professors) should comment on academics and that references should submit along with the application system.
Statement of Intent: Explain the reasons or intentions for pursuing studies in this program, including a description of prior experience.
Two Writing Sample: Students applying for a job, internship, may be asked to provide a writing sample that allows an employer or graduate program to judge student ability to convey a written message.
Study proposal: Document proposing a research project, generally in the sciences or academia, and generally constitutes a request for sponsorship of that research.
Statement of Purpose: An essay stating the purpose of applying to a particular course at a particular university.
Statement of research interests: Student has to fill their interesting research work area in the application form.
