As per the new Studies from Statistics Canada, the number of students attaining PGWP (Post Graduate Work Permit) have remarkably enhanced. With this, the annual median salary turned out to be twice in a decade. It has increased from $14,500 to $26,800 in 2008 and 2018 respectively.

Statistics Canada also observed the labor market participation of PGWP holders from 2008 to 2018. The involvement was somehow found stationary while the number of employers reporting their annual earnings elevated to 135,100 in 2018 which was 10,300 in 2008 which is approx 13 times.

The PGWP permits suitable international graduates to work anywhere in Canada for at most 3 years, relying on the duration of their respective study program. With Canadian education and work expertise, students in Canada can easily acquire any economic-class immigration program. PGWP can neither be extended nor be renewed. Also, it can only be secured once in a lifetime.

Among all the PGWP holders during this period, approximately three-quarters attained permanent residency within 5 years from when their PGWP was issued.
As per the study, this stretch in numbers could possibly be the result of Canadian work expertise which increases the chances of PGWP holders to get selected as immigrants. Moreover, PGWP holders would be more keen to apply for permanent residency than someone who did not apply for PGWP.
