The program supplements those in many other disciplines, such as teaching, literature, the performing arts and the sciences.

A philosophy major also prepares students for graduate work in philosophy, law, theology, literature, political science and other related liberal arts subjects. It is a nonteaching major.

The Philosophy major consists of 33 credit hours, 24 of which must be at the 200 level or above. Majors must satisfactorily complete at least one course in each of the following five core areas, with a minimum of twelve credit hours at the 300 or 400 level.
