Rather than concentrating on theoretical computing (as many computer science programs do) or being limited to simple administration of information systems (as most MIS programs are), this program concentrates on the key applications of computing in the real world.

- An undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Applicants recommended GPA is of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or "First Division"

- The GRE requirement will be waived for applicants who meet the following criterion:
- An undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, OR
- An undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, but less than 3.5 and who have completed Calculus 1&2 earning a grade of B or higher.
