We in the PTW program want to help you gain important knowledge and skills valued in the field. To do this, we ask that you engage in both the critical analysis of existing works as well as the production of your own, original materials?materials that you can add to your professional portfolio.

All classes in the PTW curriculum are designed to help you achieve these objectives by offering a range of assignments, activities, and readings.

As faculty in the PTW program:
  • We want to help you learn to produce strong, clear, well-edited prose that meets the rhetorical demands of broad and often varied audiences;
  • We want to help you develop your ability to adapt to working environments that are changing rapidly?especially in terms of information technology;
  • We want to help you develop a specialty in the specific field or type of working environment in which you'd like to put your PTW knowledge and skills to use. Professional and technical writers almost always have this kind of speciality.
