The Department of Education offers both majors and minors in Education.
Students who are interested in teaching elementary (grades K-6) will major in Elementary Education. Students who want to teach high school (grades 9-12) mathematics, science (biology, chemistry, or physics), English, or K -12 Foreign Language, major in their teaching specialty and minor in Secondary Education.
Students who want to teach high school (grades 9-12) social studies major in a Social Studies-related content area (examples include but are not limited to, history, political science, economics, sociology, or anthropology) and minor in Secondary Education.
