The Applied Health Science faculty and students focus their efforts on the basic and applied aspects of the human health sciences. At the center of this focus is a desire to administer God?s grace by promoting human flourishing through the application of the health sciences.
The curriculum is designed to not merely provide students the scientific content required to successfully apply to graduate school, but to help them develop the academic and professional skills necessary to thrive in graduate school and into clinical practice.
The faculty are of the highest quality and represent expertise in their fields. Many have taught at medical schools, and all publish their research in peer-reviewed scientific journals or author textbooks. AHS faculty and staff care deeply about our students lives as well as their academic success, and spend time advising, encouraging, and spiritually mentoring students.
Students have multiple 'field' opportunities: they may perform biomedical research with our faculty, serve underserved populations through HNGR or SMP internships, practice their developing clinical skills within practices of their interest, and accumulate significant patient contact hours during their major-required AHS internship.
To provide students with the academic foundation and critical thought processes for continued learning in the different areas of the health professions
To mentor students in research and discovery projects as part of their education
To help students develop a healthy lifestyle so they can enjoy one of God?s principal creations - the human body - to the fullest
