Most math classes for math majors are 40 students or less, and many upper-level classes have fewer than 25 students, which gives the opportunity to know other students and faculty well. The program includes early field experiences in middle and high school classrooms and concludes with a student-teaching internship. Students graduate with both a Bachelors of Science and a professional teaching license for secondary mathematics (grades 5-12).
Careers in Mathematics Education
Graduates in Mathematics Education typically begin a teaching career after graduation -- math teachers continue to be in high demand. Others continue on to graduate or professional school (law, business, medical schools) or work in related fields such as actuarial science, software engineering, or banking
